Today we’d like to introduce you to Diamond Symone.
Diamond, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
Hailing from Detroit, Michigan, I am an urban contemporary artist, creative director, muse and culture enthusiast. I graduated from Eastern Michigan University with a Bachelors degree in Arts & Entertainment Administration and a focus in Business Management. In 2018, I rediscovered my passion for creating and established Diamond Symone Visuals to pave a lane of my own as a creative millennial. More recently, I’ve received a number of new opportunities to showcase my visual artistry across the nation and I’m more than grateful for that.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I think any venture of entrepreneurship has its highs and lows. For me, some of my struggles included figuring out painting techniques, learning how to balance personal life while owning a business and also learning how to navigate the highs and lows of being a creative entrepreneur. I think the creative world is a slightly different ball game.
Please tell us more about your art.
Diamond Symone Visuals is an arts company that specializes in visual art painting and creative direction. I’m most proud of being a Detroit based company that is run by an Afro-Caribbean millennial woman. I believe that no one person’s vision is the same and that’s what sets me apart from others.
Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
I have a few favorite memories from childhood but one of my most fond memories is gardening with my grandmother and helping her hang laundry on the clothing lines.
