Meet Denise Medina

Today we’d like to introduce you to Denise Medina.

Hi Denise, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I started my makeup artist career four years ago right after makeup school. I decided to become a makeup artist because I loved how I felt after doing my own face beat and wanted to make others feel the same way. I got to where I am today mainly by making connections with amazing people and being readily available. I first started with collaborations and grew my network from there. I love that the people that I met through collabs have grown along with me in this industry.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
My biggest struggle during this journey has been declining jobs because I was working a part-time job at the same time. I had to split my time between the two but mainly had my job as a priority. However, the jobs I declined I was always able to pass them over to other makeup artists. I was happy that I was able to help them grow and in turn they will help me out with jobs later on.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am a makeup artist specializing in natural glam looks in Los Angeles and Orange County. I have worked on music videos, tv shows, fashion shows, short films and photoshoots.

I am most proud of the connections I’ve been able to make with other people in my industry.

I have experience with all skin tones and textures and I’m always able to fix any makeup mistakes quickly. I’m also able to work quickly while on set. Also, since I’ve made great connections with other artists, I’m always able to find someone if I’m unavailable for a job.

Alright so before we go can you talk to us a bit about how people can work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
