Meet Demetrius Mavi

Today we’d like to introduce you to Demetrius Mavi.

Hi Demetrius, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I’ve only been doing music seriously now for about a year, but I’ve always been around it starting back when I was in my younger years watching my brother, but also all of my homies from the Pasadena area do music as well. I didn’t see it for myself how they did however, but during quarantine is I guess when I started being more active with music by doing freestyles in my car just for fun and posting them. I started getting a lot of feedback from people saying how much they liked them and it made me want to turn those freestyles into songs. Towards the end of 2021, I wound up meeting with an artist/engineer/producer named Rose Hills, who really got me locked into music! Once I got into the studio with him, we clicked automatically, he does great work and helped me find a stronger love for music and since then, I just haven’t looked back! Music has always been a cultural love and I like being a part of it and seeing people enjoy my music pushes me harder.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
So far it’s definitely been a smooth road, I can’t say I’ve ran into any obstacles just yet because I’m still so early into it. I’m at a phase where I feel I can do no wrong and if I do wrong, it’s ok because this is the time to make the mistakes.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I actually work for JP Morgan Chase Bank as a business banker so when I’m not in the booth, I’m usually helping people with their business & their finances. What I’m known is going on vacation, when I’m not D Mav I’m “vacation D”.

What sets me apart from others is who I am. I’m really a different type of breed, my personality, my energy, my positivity, I want to win, but I want everyone around me in the same positions. I’m not A selfish person I understand It takes a team to win and that’s what I’m all about in the long run!

What sort of changes are you expecting over the next 5-10 years?
As far as music goes, it is going to always be here I feel Like anyone can succeed with music. You can catch a wave at any time. That’s the beauty of it and I know my time is coming and when the trends and changes come, I’ll be right in the mix making trends of my own!
