Meet Demetre Ramos-Davis of One Shooter Productions in Downtown

Today we’d like to introduce you to Demetre Ramos-Davis.

Demetre, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
My camera journey started back in 2016 when I stopped playing football. I needed to find a hobby since sports was all I did my whole life. So I decided to get a camera and get into photography. The first year was strictly photos, I did no videos at all. But I was constantly learning the fundamentals of filmmaking and studying films. Once I got my first shotgun mic, it was on. I started filming little skits and short films all the time, and around that same time, I started giving music videos a shot.

Has it been a smooth road?
The road has been bumpy. When it comes to actually making money, it was rough in the start. I’m sure any entrepreneur can agree that getting clients in the beginning is tough, especially when you have no work to show. Once I started to build my portfolio, that all changed. My skills were rising and it showed in my work, and in return my clients started recommending me to other clients and thats basically how everything jumped off for me

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the One Shooter Productions story. Tell us more about the business.
My passion is the narrative side of filmmaking, most people in my community know me for my short films, but I also do a lot of music videos as well. I’ve submitted a couple of my short films to multiple film festivals around LA. I had high hopes going into my first film festival, but after comparing the other films to mine, I quickly realized the kind of talent that was out there. I’m a sore loser so that didn’t sit well with me, all it did was make me work harder. Just recently I submitted my latest short film “Zakara” to the Los Angeles Film Awards and won the honorable mention for the Sci-Fi genre.

How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
I see myself dipping into feature films within the next two year, within the next five years I see myself have a couple of films on a major streaming platform such as Netflix.
