Today we’d like to introduce you to Deganit Nuur.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Deganit. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
As an Iranian immigrant, I grew up with a lot of Sufism. Uncles and aunties would recite Rumi, Hafiz, and Shams of Tabriz from memory at family gatherings. We’re also Kurdish, which means a general feeling of unity and celebration permeated throughout my childhood, complete with lots of laughter, dancing and the arts.
As romantic as all that was, I also grew up with a single mom and as the oldest, I fast became her helper and partner. I grew up quick and identified as a care-taker really early on.
By the time I was in college I was meditating regularly, reading all the self-help books and had as many elder friends as I did freshman friends. I was obsessed with meditation and being naturally curious and adventurous, I had to try every single modality of healing that was available to me.
Just after undergrad is when I met my first clairvoyant teacher, Kayhan Ghodsi, who assured me that I was indeed intuitive and empathic. He taught me how to use and manage my gifts so it didn’t feel like they had full control over me.
Within months of training with Kayhan, I was offering all my friends clairvoyant readings and they all loved their sessions so much they’d refer friends, coworkers and classmates to me. I was having a lot of fun with divination, but didn’t think of it as anything more than a hobby.
Clearly, this was never meant to be a hobby. Without any plans of dedicating my life to this work, I found myself with a thriving and rapidly growing practice. In all honesty, I felt a bit overwhelmed by the responsibility at first. I was also still shy about my gifts and still hadn’t grown into feeling worthy of this path. It took me a couple of years, but I finally surrendered to my calling.
I traded in dental school for acupuncture school and started a clairvoyant healing center in the iconic West Village of Manhattan, New York. At its height, the Nuurvana Healing Center had 8 wonderfully skilled psychics that practiced the Nuurvana Method, a spirit-science melody including a clairvoyant reading, medicinal grade essential oils, neuro-linguistic programming, spiritual homework, sound baths, and personalized mantras. The Nuurvana Center was a dream come true! So many magical relationships were created in that sacred space, including a few romantic ones!
As much as I loved the Center and while it felt more like my home and tribe than the office or work, by the end of 2017, it was time to close that chapter and start a new one. I started traveling to teach and speak more and offering more healing opportunities online.
Unsurprisingly, LA embraced me with open arms! I found a new home at the Spa at the Four Seasons in Beverly Hills, which just happens to look more like a beautiful garden than a hotel (manifestation is real, y’all, I was seeking more nature).
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
It’s very smooth when I honor myself and keep committed to my self-actualization. Things get wonky when I self-neglect or compromise my boundaries. What’s interesting is when I choose Deganit, Nuurvana grows exponentially. It took me some time to figure that out.
At the beginning of my career, I’d choose Nuurvana over Deganit, thinking there wasn’t a huge difference between the two entities and knowing and recognizing this work is my passion and purpose. I learned the hard way that prioritizing Nuurvana above self ultimately hurt both Deganit and Nuurvana.
Please tell us about Nuurvana Clairvoyant Healing.
I’m an intuition expert and my greatest passion is helping people hone their intuition and heal themselves. I truly believe world peace starts with inner peace. I am devoted to our vision of world peace through our mission of guiding and facilitating inner peace.
Our online course, nu it school, workshops, retreats and events are all focused on helping people heal themselves and live out their pure potential. Nu it is an acronym for “Nuurvana Intuitive Training” and is pronounced “knew it,” because you’ll be saying, “I nu it!” when practicing this material. We currently have 600 students globally and receive daily words of affirmation, testimonials and success stories that make me cry with joy each time! The most ubiquitous feedback we receive from students is that they feel more confident in themselves and their decisions thanks to nu it.
I also do a lot of teaching in-person with wonderful partners like Unplug Meditation, goop, and alo yoga. I’m offering more and more virtual workshops and healing circles these days and private sessions are primarily held over the phone.
While I take this work seriously, I don’t take myself too seriously so working with me promises just as much laughter and invocation of the new as it does tears and releasing of the old. This works goes deep and can get heavy. I love offering levitivity, effervescent support, and amusement to facilitate the process. I believe the days of “no pain, no gain,” are over. Healing can be a joyous adventure of self-discovery and self-mastery!
If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
I honestly don’t know that I would have changed a single thing.
Nuurvana blew up over night. I wasn’t physically, mentally or emotionally ready for it, but I was in spiritual alignment. There was a steep learning curve and there hasn’t been a dull moment since! I feel like I’m about 75 incarnations away from the me I was in the beginning and I wouldn’t have it any other way!
