Meet Dee (Neeraja) Narla of Dristee, Inc. in Orange County

Today we’d like to introduce you to Dee (Neeraja) Narla.

Dee, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
For a young girl growing up in India, daily lessons could be deep and powerful. One lesson visible even to the eyes of a child was that the quality and security of life in a small village was greatly enhanced by communal awareness and cooperation. When watchful for one another, everyone benefitted.

As a child in India, I was socially active and deeply engaged with the rights and safety of children. In 1999, having completed my university degree in Engineering, I came to America, became a naturalized citizen and gave birth to two daughters. After working as a software engineer for thirteen years, I left that career to dedicate myself to a cause that I believed very strongly. My own life experiences and vulnerable situation motivated me deeply to embrace my strength and optimism for the cause that is very close to my heart. I wanted to utilize design and technology to serve the needs of the vulnerable.

Repeatedly asking myself, what can I offer to those in need? Two issues seemed apparent. First, specific needs, risks and dangers must be identified and second, once recognized, one must offer effective technology to counter the two basic enemies of success – disregard and unawareness. Important keys to societal and family safety are precise information, quick communication and responsive support for everyone involved.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
It was not a simple or smooth road! Take a look around, most of us have responsibilities to others in our lives. My passion and driving force are to use technology to make the implementation of these responsibilities easier, more effective.

A small Startup Company faces the usual challenges of a new enterprise and associated brand-recognition, marketing, funding and so forth. Just like any other startup company, I had experienced challenges and obstructions. For me, the motivation started from your surroundings, home and neighbors. The greatest support to keep moving and surviving was my concern for the welfare of my own children as well as all children of the larger society. Whether the caring for a child, a person suffering from Dementia or anyone with Special Needs. I consider my role in securing the well-being of my children as a part of my responsibly for them and I consider caretaking of the vulnerable as the responsibility of the society at large. I believe in modern society and in future prosperity to bring a safe and happy place in our circle. I took this challenge not only to bring awareness but to develop a product to resolve the problem.

Of course, Dristee also requires legal, patent and financial direction. Legally, we seem well covered. Patent-wise we are very secure. Financially we seem on-course but recognize that ongoing financial input will be necessary to bring the product to market.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Dristee, Inc. – tell our readers more, for example, what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
My friends view me as a caring and compassionate mother and also an intellectual woman. I don’t have words to describe the loving support I have received from friends in America in their encouragement to my venture and contribute some part of the solution to these problems. The strength and trust shown by my friends inspired me to sustain the effort that has resulted in this AMAZING product. For me, Dristee is not only professionally satisfying in its comprehensive design and technology but personally satisfying in the way it reflects the needs of my own heart and conscience.

Even in the U.S., I am occasionally disquieted by undertones of isolation, impersonality and even danger that threaten our society’s vulnerable, from the disappearance of young children to the unintended neglect of the elderly and those with special needs. Such thoughts, along with my own personal concern for the well-being and safety of my children and loved ones, lead me to develop Dristee, a system-based product to help meet the increasingly complex safety needs of coming generations. For me, Dristee is not only professionally gratifying in its comprehensive design and technology but personally satisfying in answering the needs of my own heart and conscience. Children can disappear, the elderly can wander and those with autism and special needs can be overlooked and thus effectively disregarded. Motivated by the well-being of my own children as well as for all of the community’s vulnerable, I developed Dristee, a system-based product to meet the increasingly complex safety needs of coming generations. For me, Dristee’s comprehensive design and a wide range of features are both professionally and personally satisfying in answering the requests of my heart and conscience.

So, what’s next? Any big plans?
I believe our technology has tremendous future in our consumer market. Parents and caretakers will be relieved with the support they will receive from Dristee. It will be an aide to protect and be watchful to our vulnerable community and continuously give them emotional support.

In the company’s vision, an additional but major opportunity is the device’s potential contribution to the societal good and providing protection for the vulnerable. Safety and health of the vulnerable from the personal and parental as well as from the societal perspective is a dependable and securely anticipated response. Dristee’s basic device will be priced to be available at a competitive cost to the market-at-large. Dristee is now a product ready to go on full development to market. Working closely with engineers and private consulting firms, I always made it my primary goal that they should understand my vision and the intricacies of the design behind the device. The development of an innovative product like Dristee always requires ongoing technical guidance and direction. Working with my teams, I am confident of our progress in the design area. Five years from now, we will create an industry innovation business with a broad customer base with little or no competition, which has a profitable monthly residual income.
