Meet Dean Levin of Wake Up Wine in South Bay

Today we’d like to introduce you to Dean Levin.

Dean carries with him 45 years of hands-on experience in the fields of sales, marketing, strategic planning, business turnaround, crisis management and new product launches. For the preceding 30 years, Dean has been the Managing Member of First Class Marketing LLC, a firm supporting the marketing and business requirements of new and existing companies and specializing in creating and delivering the marketing strategies for new product development and product launches.

Dean has served in a corporate capacity of various businesses including start-ups, an insolvent publicly-traded retail organization which was converted to a profitable operating entity, has manufactured and distributed numerous food product lines in the snack, health food and grocery distribution channels (i.e. Trader Joes and Albertsons), has founded and then established regional, national and international sales networks in the highly competitive agriculture/environmental and developed consumer products in the housewares and electronics industries.

Currently, Dean is an active partner in several clinically–proven natural health consumable products and other leading-edge products in the consumer products channels. During the past three years, he returned to creating, adapting and manufacturing new consumer products for the consumer mass market, direct sales, and infomercial channels. In fact, two of his current products are scheduled for distribution release this year.

His abilities in transforming ideas and concepts into innovative strategies and products led him to develop, package and Co-Executive produce for Public Television a primetime show featuring Dr. John Gray, (relationship author of “Men are from Mars and Women are from Venus” with global book sales exceeding 50 million). Dean and John have maintained a fifteen-year business partnership, resulting in millions of dollars in sales of various healthy and effective consumable continuity products. Dean partnered with billion-dollar salesperson Jay Kordich, aka “The Juice Man” on a new juicing infomercial; Additionally, Dean facilitated the manufacturing and production of multiple consumer products for a fifteen-year-old direct sales company with sales in excess of $950 million; In 2002 Dean crafted the innovative product concept behind the highly successful consumer blender product known as “The Magic Bullet” which generated sales in excess of $950 million.

Earlier in his career, Dean was instrumental in establishing and professionalizing the “Home Theater” industry in the early 1980s and worked with industry notables such as Mark Levinson (Mark Levinson audio used in Lexus vehicles), Paul Klipsch (Klipsch Loudspeakers) and others who established innovative technology-oriented consumer products. The results of utilizing Dean’s highly substantiated strategic business plans resulted in the funding of an array of leading-edge technologies including a global software/voice database recognition provider, a national health service company, and an internet service provider.

Dean’s Business School degree came with Honors in Management, Marketing and Behavior from the University of Colorado and he’s recognized in various Who’s Who in Domestic and International Business.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The road always appears to be a path of optimistic perspective followed by the realism of getting there. I’ve found when the product, the manufacturer, the inventor creates the opportunity and possibility of providing the market with a better and or healthier product or solution I get excited. Then what follows is the need to validate the reality of the opportunity.

Many, many times even after working to validate through due diligence the product or solution was found to already exist or exists for less or in a better form. The due diligence process sometimes warrants the production or solution as being worthy, only to find out the competitors, or the funds necessary to get into the market are sizeable and the work has to be shelved.

Other times amazing products or solutions don’t have the same appeal as I believed. This due diligence when it holds true by validating the product or solution being needed the next step that follows is the need for a prototype being produced. The times are most frustrating when the anticipated independent validation for this product or solutions need as a marketplace is not borne out.
