Meet Dawntin Loo of Palacio Palace in San Fernando Valley

Today we’d like to introduce you to Dawntin Loo.

Dawntin, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
My name is Alex, I’m a producer and promoter here in the SFV! As a musician myself, my passion led me to discover many other creatives in Los Angeles, but I constantly found myself traveling outside the valley to see them! I noticed that many of our local electronic artists didn’t have a platform and since that’s my jam, I decided to give it a shot. I started doing the live events in November 2019 and it’s been quite the journey. Overall I’m just thankful for all the artists that have helped us through the beginning and during the pandemic. My team consists of Alfredo aka Alzy aka el keamo and Spencer aka Automatagraphics. All three of us have been friends for quite some time. Spencer has been creating visual content in the live events industry for a few years now and was very excited to jump on board. Alfredo organized many smaller valleys shows prior, so he was eager to help with the project.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Not in the slightest lol., from acts not arriving to the show to a low number of attendees arriving, The venue booking two shows and having to setup late. Going over budget cause we couldn’t find a cheap location. The pandemic also canceled one event. Along with that, we had to let go of our original name which we were fond of due to a controversial group using a similar name. Regardless of all these issues, we just kept pushing forward. Right now, we’re pretty comfortable with our stream setup though and we’re getting amazing feedback and support.

Please tell us about Palacio Palace.
We are a cultural hub and digital venue that hosts and curates show, both live and virtual. We mostly feature electronic music but have since expanded our horizons to include other genres. What sets us apart is our commitment to showcasing great live sets from up and coming artists through our own self-hosted virtual venue. Our accompanying audio-reactive visuals and effects have also become a staple of Palacio Palace. It’s very important to us to keep the shows fresh and engaging with dynamic live sets, responsive visuals and interactive elements.

We are very proud of how far we have come in the past year, going from small live shows to bigger virtual shows and learning a lot along the way. We’ve been very happy with our end results and we are constantly meeting amazing artists with fresh ideas. Over time, we have built up a nice community of passionate music-lovers and we couldn’t be happier!

Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
Playing super Nintendo as a kid not having to worry about the bigger political or global concepts of the world. Turning on Toonami and discovering daft punk. All of those are good answers.
