Today we’d like to introduce you to Dawn O’Leary, Amy Coan, Ginger Perkins, and Becky Prange.
Dawn, Amy, Ginger, and Becky, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
We met through tennis. Becky, Ginger, and Dawn have played in the Westside Tennis League for years. It is a volunteer-managed league with more than 1,200 players. They have been active Board Members overseeing the annual awards luncheon and boutique.
Luncheon attendees kept commenting on how smoothly the event runs and how it is so organized, so the three ladies discussed actually running events as a business. Then, they met Amy Coan who had an event planning company in Chicago and asked her to join them as well. POPGroup LA was formed in the Fall of 2018.
The company did three events at the beginning of the year and is working hard to acquire new clients. The company focuses on corporate and non-profit events.
Has it been a smooth road?
Setting up the business has been relatively easy – partnership agreement, bank accounts, website, business cards, business plan. However, getting people to hire you is another issue. Collectively, we all have extensive experience and skills. The challenges are how and where to focus our marketing efforts to secure new business.
We’d love to hear more about your business.
POPGroup LA is a full-service event and project management company. We specialize in corporate functions such as conferences, product launches, employee retreats, recognition events, holiday parties, and team-building, as well as sports and entertainment festivities, fundraising galas and special occasion events.
We pride ourselves on our ability to serve our clients by working from conception through execution of an event while giving appropriate, unique and cost-effective options. All of the seasoned executives have a reputation of consistently delivering high-level services on time and on budget.
POPGroup LA rises above the competition because we have a core group with event planning skills. However, we all come from different areas of work and experiences. Therefore, we can offer comprehensive event planning solutions.
Amy Coan operated her own event planning company for 15 years in Chicago. She knows the ins and outs of running this type of business. Ginger Perkins hails from an extensive entertainment background, mainly in theater. She is a wiz at coming up with creative solutions on limited budgets. Becky Prange’s expertise is in non-profit fundraising. She can analyze and employ new strategies to help non-profits exceed their expectations.
Dawn O’Leary utilizes her marketing and public relations background to help clients achieve their end goals whether they are seeking a sell-out crowd, introducing a new product or service, or want to increase funds raised.
Is our city a good place to do what you do?
Los Angeles offers so many opportunities for event planners. It is a mecca for entertainment, sports, corporate and non-profit events. The tricky part is penetrating the large market and connecting with the right people at the right time.
