Meet David Wolfe of Olivers in Downtown

Today we’d like to introduce you to David Wolfe.

David, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
This company wasn’t founded with venture capital, a team of MBAs, or even a detailed business plan. We started with a handful of fabric swatches, a small workshop in California, and a passion for athletics and the culture of sport. Fast forward 5 years, and what began as a fresh take on gym shorts has grown to much more.

Olivers launched in August 2013 with a Kickstarter that, at the time, was one of the top grossing apparel campaigns in Kickstarter’s history. We offered a fresh approach to men’s athletic apparel centered around The All Over Short. Since then, we’ve grown with a deliberate, thoughtful approach to athletic apparel building foundational staples.

Piece by piece, we create athletic apparel essentials, updating them with the best performance fabrics and detailed tailoring to insure they will last for years to come. But we aren’t only focused on the pursuit of athletic excellence – we’re about the spirit of adventure, and we’re here to help you tackle it head on.

Has it been a smooth road?
It’s not been a smooth road. We’ve had to deal with struggles in production, legal issues with bad actors, and a generally competitive marketplace where new competitors seem to be popping up daily.

That said, the reward and the meaningful in the journey has certainly more than justified any of the struggles to date.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Olivers – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
At Olivers, we specialize in premium active wear for men. We’re not for our quality, our classic designs, and our California roots.

Our flagship products are the All Over Short, a versatile athletic short, and the Passage Pants, which we like to think of as a performance inspired take on the classic 5 pocket pant.

We’re most proud of the quality of our products and our growing loyal fan base, without whom of course this wouldn’t be possible.

Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
I like the food, the diversity of great outdoor activities to explore (including access to mountains, sea, and desert all in a short drive), and the access to the best and brightest across so many industries.

Like most, I don’t care for the traffic nor the ever rising costs all across the city!
