Meet David Rindenow of The Rindenow Group in Hollywood Hills

Today we’d like to introduce you to David Rindenow.

David, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I graduated from UC Davis in 2007 and didn’t have the money required to start in real estate. I accepted a job with Farmers Insurance and then with Liberty Mutual Insurance where I handled Auto and Homeowners Claims. I worked for the Catastrophe Team at both companies which gave me great experience in home construction. When I saved up enough money, I left the insurance industry, got my real estate license, and joined Rodeo Realty where I worked for almost 3 years. I was determined to make a career of this after seeing so many fail and spent every Sunday of my first year holding open houses. I began to double my business each year until I was recruited to join the Keller Williams Hollywood Hills Team where I am now. After a very successful year of quickly jumping to the top 20% of the office in production, I decided to start my team The Rindenow Group. As an LA Native, I know every part of the city and valley well. I am able to work with everyone from first time homebuyers, investors, and even developers.

With my business growing so quickly, I had the need to hire more agents and administrative support to help keep up. I am on track to be within the top 15% of the office this year and aim for the top 1% by the end of 2018.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
It has not been a smooth road. I spent nearly $50,000 my first year trying to see what would work. I did not have a true mentor and had to fight every step of the way to figure out what works. I spent a lot of money in advertising both through print and internet. It was a struggle to get those first few deals. Everyone in Los Angeles knows at least 2 real estate agents. At the time I started, they had no reason to choose me over the other, more experienced agents, they knew. I had some frustrating losses from friends and family who gave business to other realtors. I kept going and proved through working with other buyers and sellers that I could get the job done better than anyone else and many of those same people have returned to give me their business.

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the The Rindenow Group story. Tell us more about the business.
The Rindenow Group is a tech forward company within Keller Williams. I see on a daily basis that buyers and sellers are looking for the agent that has the edge and will do more for them than any other realtor. I live and work by the rule that I never want to hear a client say that another realtor is doing more for them than me. I give my clients everything I can. The Rindenow Group will work with every client from start to beyond finish. We have a vast list of tradesmen who can help prep the home for sale. Even after the purchase, we stick with our clients to make sure they know they can count on us to be there when they need help with repairs or questions. We are known for putting our clients first 100%. As many agents are only focused on the check at the end of the deal, we are focused on the continued relationship and happiness of our clients. Even if it costs us a little extra during the process, happy clients will refer future business and we will make up that loss on another deal. Reputation is everything in this industry and we never want our clients to feel that they do not come first. What also sets us apart is our marketing.

We treat every home as if it is a multi-million dollar deal. Every home gets top of the line photography, property video, custom high-end brochures, catered brokers open houses and refreshments at the public open houses. We often have clients and neighbors say that they haven’t seen our type of marketing for homes like theirs before. We use social media platforms and a database of over 15,000 agents to ensure that our properties get seen by all buyers. I was one of the first realtors in the country using drone videos to sell properties and we continue to explore new technology like 3D Walkthroughs and Digital Staging to help get homes sold for top dollar. In 2016, EVERY home I sold was a record price.

Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
When you are first starting, I feel that luck plays a huge part of real estate. You are dealing with so many personalities and so many agents in this market that sometimes, the luck of timing is what gets you the best deals, and other times, it is just hard work and grinding.
