Today we’d like to introduce you to Danny Meza.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Danny. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I’ve been creating art my entire life. For as long as I can remember, I always loved drawing and coloring. I was always interested in comic books and graffiti. As I grew older, I started making my own comic books, characters and eventually painting graffiti. Which lead to me meeting a lot of other creative people. After high school, I attended the Art Institute in Los Angeles and studied graphic design. I then later moved back to Santa Barbara and worked on a lot of side jobs like logo designs, mural commissions and such. Then I was introduced to a local tattooer who was interested in my work and was willing to give me an apprenticeship. I now have been tattooing for about ten years but also kept working on my art which leads to so many opportunities for me to network and travel.
Has it been a smooth road?
I smoothly got here. But of course there was a lot of struggles along the way, from losing friends and colleagues to getting injured and being out of work while recovering. There were times I was gonna quit tattooing, but everything always ended up working out.
We’d love to hear more about your business.
My business is tattooing mainly. That’s my full-time job. I do however, take side projects like painting commissions and graphic design. I’m mostly known for my tattooing. What sets me apart from others is that I am versatile and that’s what I’m most proud of.
How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
I’m not sure. The industry is definitely getting saturated. Which can be good and bad. The technology is definitely getting better and better.
