Meet Danny Hernandez of Danny Hernandez Photography in Downtown LA

Today we’d like to introduce you to Danny Hernandez.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
Photography has always been something that I have been interested in. I was always too shy to photograph people, so I began with photographing landscapes and concerts. Ultimately, I always wanted to photograph weddings and more portraits. Little did I know, that by shooting more frequently, things just begin to happen in my favor.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
It hasn’t been a smooth road but it’s definitely been an interesting one. Photography does take up time especially because I didn’t have a mentor, so I went through a lot of trial and error in order to figure things out.

We’d love to hear more about your business.
I love capturing candid moments. When I am at a concert, I look for smiles, jumps and anything that can seem explosive in a photograph. I aim to do the same when I photograph people in portraits or weddings.

What were you like growing up?
I can honestly say that as outgoing that I may seem, I was always very shy. Photography has allowed me to find my own voice and become certain of things I want. Especially because when you are in charge of shooting something, your client needs to trust that you know what you are doing.
