Meet Danny Fuentes of Lethal Amounts

Today we’d like to introduce you to Danny Fuentes.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Danny. So, let’s start at the beginning, and we can move on from there.
Lethal Amounts started off as a workspace for a clothing line. To introduce the brand’s identity and influences we began having art shows dedicated to things that inspire us. It soon became evident that we were putting on art shows that had a life all to their own and decided to add more emphasis to the art shows. Before we knew it the gallery aspect of the business was being acknowledged by local press and the art scene.

Since our first art show in February of 2013, we have hosted legendary exhibits working with legendary names in counterculture like Tom of Finland Foundation, Divine estate, Bruce LaBruce, Edward Colver, Leee Black Childers, Lydia Lunch, Kembra Pfahler, Ramones estate, Glenn Danzig and many many others. We have evolved into more than just an art gallery, hosting nightlife events and concerts as well as continued the clothing brand.

Now running for over six years, we continue to evolve into more than just a gallery. We are a lifestyle brand and proudly harbor and honor the outsiders and real groundbreakers.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
As we have grown, it hasn’t always been easy. The art shows we put on have to be cultivated from little to no resources and funding that comes from ourselves.

The amount of hours put into the events to execute properly is daunting, but we do it with a sense of if we don’t do it no one will.

It truly is a labor of love, and it comes with its difficulties. Running a multifaceted business takes a lot of patience, organization, and discipline.

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Lethal Amounts – what should we know?
Lethal Amounts focuses on subversive and counter-culture themes throughout history, addressing the social and artistic value of underground movements while highlighting taboo topics. We take an interest in showcasing the extremes of rock ‘n roll of the past that have crossed over into pop culture fanaticism, street culture influences, and cult hero worship.

Our proudest achievement is being recognized by our heroes and peers as an outlet for them to express their ideas without judgment. We strive to provoke thought and keep art sacred and out of the hands of censors. Hearing people like Genesis Porridge and Glenn Danzig speak highly of us speaks volumes to us.

I think what really sets us apart is that we practice what we preach. We don’t just celebrate the outsiders, we are the outsiders.

Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
Sincerity. We truly believe in everyone we work with and the things we focus on.
