Today we’d like to introduce you to Danielle Johnson.
Hi Danielle, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I had a passion for art at a very young age. It began with dance and evolved to include writing, acting, singing and eventually, technology. I would incessantly explore my influences and was drawn to the fact that these artists convey the difficult truth. I knew early on that it was a common thing in society to avoid the truth.
It became my purpose as an artist and a person to find and reflect truth so that I could feel the same freedom I felt while experiencing my favorites and hopefully give that feeling to others.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The journey has been bumpy; I think most journeys are. I realized that the way for me to feel the most satisfied in my work and life is to appreciate what I have around me. Gratitude for my community, my friends, family and the work I am able to do has made the journey so much more meaningful. The biggest struggle has been internal; coming back to my purpose and refining the reason why I want to make these artistic contributions. External factors can be so distracting, it’s important to develop a foundation within yourself that’s uninfluenced by those distractions.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar, what can you tell them about what you do?
I am an artist; I make films, dance and sing/song-write. I’m also a techie; I edit for film and work in media fulfillment. What sets me apart is the layer of introspection and self-awareness I hope to bring to any project I work on. I’ve always valued the concept of “an examined life”. I find it fascinating to break through layers and analyze patterns without judgment. I hope to contribute to a world that is more compassionate and progressive through the work that I do.
Any big plans?
I am simultaneously in pre-production for my feature film and seeking management representation to continue to build and grow my team. With this film, I’ll also be introducing my production company and searching for opportunities to collaborate with individuals who have unique stories to tell.
