Meet Daniel Chinchilla of Chinchilla Brows in Hollywood Hills

Today we’d like to introduce you to Daniel Chinchilla.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I started my journey as a makeup artist working retail where I quickly learned that I loved taking to people; and making them feel good. Connecting with clients gave me a sense of fulfillment and new found happiness, when people would leave me with a huge smile and confidence on their face.

After 6 years in retail, I decided to take a leap of faith and start working as a freelance makeup artist. I knew two things when I left my retail job, 1) I wanted to be my own boss, and 2) I wanted to work in the entertainment industry.

I worked for headshot photographers, and eventually found myself working on hair and beauty campaigns for companies that I would have never dreamed of working for. To be able and help companies create images for their brand was so amazing and extremely exciting to me. I also slowly, but surely started working with celebrities. I found myself getting booked for mostly red carpet, beauty campaigns, and photoshoots. I also represented companies such as Too Faced, Ulta Beauty, and Bloomingdales.

After about 8 years of working as a freelance makeup artist I went on an album promo tour with Ariana Grande as her makeup artist. The promo tour ended, but was able to then be her personal artist for 2 music world tours. Never would I have imagined that I would travel the world multiple times. It was definitely an experience that I will never forget. I was able to do what I love, while seeing parts of the world that I would have never imagined traveling to.

My work, and beauty tips led me to be featured in magazines such as InStyle, Cosmopolitan, Billboard, Vogue, W, and Teen Vogue, just to name a few. I decided I wanted to expand my brand, so, I took another leap of faith. I found myself always being obsessed with perfecting brows, and wanted to give people a more semi-permanent makeup application, which led me to my new passion. I became certified, and trained in Microblading and Shading for eyebrows. I have an eye for beauty, and knew I could help people look and feel their best, especially with the perfect set of brows. Fast forward to 9 months later, I opened up my eyebrow studio, “Chinchilla Brows” where I enhance and transform the natural shape of my client’s brows. I, of course, still do makeup, since it is my first true love, but my brow studio is just another way to connect with people and spread my love for all things beauty. This new chapter in my life has made me so happy, and I feel so incredibly lucky that people trust me everyday for their beauty needs.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Of course, just like any business I started out by getting the word out, and promoting my makeup services. I kept at it and worked hard to be noticed and stand out. One thing seemed to lead to another. I feel like one of the struggles was a good struggle. Being overworked. haha. Especially as a young, new artist, I felt like I had to take every job that came my way. So I found myself always working on clients, and my brand. Opening my studio has also been a lot of hard work, but I feel like I have a pretty good idea of what needs to be done, and I love a good challenge. It has honestly been so rewarding though. I don’t regret any part of my journey.

Please tell us about Chinchilla Brows.
I specialize in makeup and eyebrow microblading. I’m known for being a celebrity beauty artist and working with clients such as Ariana Grande, Olivia Culpo, Debby Ryan, Emma Roberts, Lea Michele, and Sofia Richie. I am also known for my microblading studio, “Chinchilla Brows”. I have been perfecting my skills in the beauty world for the past 18 years, and love challenging myself and building my brand. I am super proud of the fact that my beauty tips are published in major beauty publications such as InStyle, Teen Vogue, and Cosmopolitan, to name a few. I will also be headed to Poland later this year for my very own masterclass at the “Brow and Makeup Show” in Poland. My extensive knowledge of the beauty industry has earned peoples trust when it comes to all things beauty. Although I still do makeup and travel with clients, I have added Microblading to my services, which makes me completely thrilled. This semi-permanent eyebrow technique I use to perfect brows changes my client’s lives and I couldn’t be happier.

If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
I wouldn’t do anything differently. I feel like everyone’s journey is different, and there is a reason for everything. Of course, we all wish things were easier at times, but I feel that I wouldn’t be as grateful for everything I have. I am completely happy with how everything in my career has worked out!
