Meet Dana Middleton of Dana Middleton Coaching in Los Feliz

Today we’d like to introduce you to Dana Middleton.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
It was my own creative journey that led me to the coaching work I do with creative people today.

I moved to Los Angeles after film school and worked for years in production, always writing on the side.

I had some great highs and lows in Hollywood, but whenever something good happened, it was often accompanied by something rather spectacularly bad. Over time, that pattern became more and more frustrating and it led to feeling me feeling stuck. And I had no idea how to unstick myself.

That started my journey of self-discovery. I delved into my underlying belief system and found ways to release old negative beliefs and replace them with ones that actually served me. One of the main tools for rewiring my life was EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique) or Tapping which is a powerful healing modality I use with clients and groups today.

Today, as well as having a wonderful coaching practice, I write books for kids. My middle-grade novels include The Infinity Year of Avalon James and Open If You Dare, both published by Feiwel and Friends/Macmillan.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has not always been a smooth road. As a writer, I felt very unseen for a long time. It took years to get my first book published. But, I learned shortcuts along the way. Part of my mission now is to help creative people develop their own shortcuts so their lives can move more smoothly and happily.

Dana Middleton Coaching – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
I help creative people to release their blocks so they can live more actualized lives. The work is intuitive and practical. Using the healing modality EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique) which is also called Tapping, I help people let go of the old debris that is holding them back so they can move forward in more conscious and deliberate ways. I’m most proud of the profound changes I often see in clients after our work together where they feel more powerful, satisfied and calm.

What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
Building a wonderful coaching practice. Teaching groups of creative people how to tap and view their lives differently. Becoming a published author of middle-grade fiction.
