Meet Dana Lee of Designer Dana in Florist

Today we’d like to introduce you to Dana Lee.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Dana. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
After I got my bachelor’s degree in Horticulture specializing in flower arrangement, my first florist job was at the Hyatt Hotel. That is when I started my event decoration career and I immediately fell in love with it.

Planning a Theme Party, creating stages, setting up walls in empty venues and putting up center pieces… I was carried away with emotions. I was trilled with surprises. I felt like this was going to be my permanent job.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
I lived in a place where American event cultures do not exist. I wanted to learn about it but all I had was books, internet or television shows. I was devastated with limited resources. I made a life changing decision seven years ago. I decided to close the doors of my successful business and moved to America. At first, I thought to myself, “Why did I do that? I don’t think it was worth it.”

I think that was the most difficult time of my life. However, I worked as a florist at a famous flower shop in Hollywood. Every time I decorated the event venues, I was in a seventh heaven. I loved every moment of working and I was learning so much about the American event cultures.

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Designer Dana – what should we know?
I ask myself, “Why do clients want to hire me? What is it that attracts clients?”

The answer to that might be that I am constantly thriving for new styles and always willing to learn and adopt new styles and blend in with Dana style. “Unique”, it’s easier said than done.

Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
Migration to America was the most significant turning point in my life.

People often say America does not change but I believe there are no other countries that adopts new cultures like America.
