Today we’d like to introduce you to Dan Braunstein and Tomer Grassiani.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Dan and Tomer. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
Grassfed was founded by Dan Braunstein and started operating in late 2016.
Grassfed held several five courses infused dinners in LA, with an innovative vape-only cannabis bar, combined with a curated eclectic playlist.
After several successful dinners, we started shifting to other social events with the first of its kind Virtual Reality and Cannabis event.
Seeing a demand for similar social events, Grassfed expanded to other events that provide a unique experience that have a natural connection to cannabis such as Marijuana Madness – a 3-part series burlesque musical telling the story of marijuana prohibition over the years.
We have also expanded the original Virtual Reality and Cannabis event into Innerspace, a multi-sensory experience, combining immersive technology, interactive art, and live music, inside a five dome park in DTLA.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
No, it has been bumpy and challenging.
Some of our main challenges involve the promotion of events, as most online advertising platforms are not cannabis friendly (IE Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Google), as well as venues that are still not cannabis friendly.
Unfortunately, these were not really affected by the recent legalization in California, as all the above companies refer to the Federal laws that still classify cannabis as a schedule 1 controlled substance.
Grassfed – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
Grassfed specializes in curated cannabis-themed events, focused on mindful social consumption.
Our signature smoke-free vape bars set us apart from other event companies, as we use the vaporizer technology to maximize the flavors of both cannabis flowers and extracts, control the intensity of the effects (by selecting the right temperature), and avoiding the hot-box environment.
Grassfed produces both pop-up and private events in California, some of our most popular event series include Taste Tubs, a food-centric dining experience that combines traditional dishes with their contemporary counterparts. Marijuana Madness, a three-part burlesque musical series telling the true story of marijuana prohibition over several eras.
We are most proud of our Innerspace series, which take guests on a journey through conciseness by combining immersive technology, interactive art, live music and cannabis, which takes place at Wisdome LA, a 5 dome park in DTLA.
What is “success” or “successful” for you?
We judge successful events on several fronts.
For popup events, we always want to see happy and satisfied guests, and sponsors, and making sure none of the guests over-consumed. Having the show or the main element of the event go smoothly and having a venue that welcomes us back.
For private events, we’re also looking to see happy and satisfied guests, and of course, making sure the venue or person who hired us are satisfied as well.
- Most of our popup event ticket prices start at $25-$35
- Our signature vape bar for private events starts at $400
