Today we’d like to introduce you to Dalton Day.
Dalton, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
To start, I grew up north of Atlanta, GA in Forsyth County. For my entire life I was a gymnast and an athlete and when my family and I moved out to California I had a horrible skating accident that almost killed me. After that while I was recovering in the hospital my dad went out and bought me a guitar and I just took to it and never looked back. That was almost 10 years ago. In that time I had played and wrote with many different people but never did anything on my own because various reasons But on June 16th, 2018 I released my first EP titled “Believe Me” which is a folk album with ambient undertones.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
I think I have always had trouble sharing my art with others. I just have always been pretty shy and never wanted the attention. But I really loved music and I knew at some point I would have to put myself out there. Even now, I get nervous talk about my music but I have gotten to the point where when I play it. I know that it’s exactly where I am supposed to be.
When I moved to Los Angeles I struggled a lot. I think all the amazing artists out here kind of intimidated me. I always saw them as people I could never measure up to. It’s funny talking about it now because I feel so at home here and instead of being intimidated, I have an appreciation for those artists and they inspire me to push further into my own art.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Dalton Day story. Tell us more about the business.
I am a folk singer-songwriter based in Los Angeles, CA.
Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
Luck fascinates me. You always hear people say “you create your own luck”. I think it’s true. It’s about putting yourself out there and that was my hardest challenge. Once I started seeking and focusing my energy on sharing my songs. All these beautiful people started to connect with me and now have become great friends. I found my producer for the EP that way and I believe it’s what helped me finish this project.
