Meet Daijah Peters

Today we’d like to introduce you to Daijah Peters.

Hi Daijah, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I’ve always been creative in some form or another and that’s what lead to me knowing at a very young age that I wanted to go into the entertainment industry. I started off in theater groups, then began to pursue music, and somehow switched back to looking for opportunities in film. My mom had tried putting me in different extracurriculars like gymnastics and ballet, but none of them really held my focus. But then, I was signed up to the Amazing Grace Conservatory and participated in its presentation of West Side Story as Maria and that’s when I knew. I wanted to act for the rest of my life. From there, I participated in school plays and another theater group until 2019 when I decided to pursue film. In addition to acting, I do a few activities on the side such as YouTube and shoe customization. All of which allows me to be creative in different ways.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The road here has been far from smooth. I struggled heavily with depression in my adolescent years because of events that took place in my life. In 2016 and 2017, I lost a lot of family members that I was incredibly close to. It was the most loss I had experienced in such a short amount of time. Then in 2018, I fell very ill and ended up in the hospital on life support for a few days. I was told when I woke up that it was actually a miracle I survived with no serious damage to my brain or any organs. It was at that point that I realized that something may have wanted me gone, but something else much stronger wanted me here and kept me here for a reason.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
Well, I’m known more so for my acting, but I also have a small YouTube page and customized sneakers. What sets me apart from others is the fact that I do a lot. I’m in school, I work, I act, I’m a content creator, and I have a side business. I’m most proud of making it this far whilst taking on everything I have on my plate. All of my family and friends believe that I overload and overwhelm myself, but I know when it’s time to rest. “A jack of all trades is a master of none, but better than a master of one” is a quote I live by because it is my belief that having a broad range of skill sets is important. That being said, be on the lookout for the SupaDaij Apparel clothing line coming soon! 🙂

Before we go, is there anything else you can share with us?
I want to build an empire before I’m 23. This is the reason why I take on so many things at once. It’s funny, so many folks around me say, slow down, you have plenty of time” but I can’t, nor do I want to. I know myself well enough to know when it’s time to take a break and when that happens, I take a step back, breathe, and then keep going. I’m a firm believer in the fact that hard work, dedication, and drive are some of the greatest catalysts for success. So I’m going to work my butt off to get where I want to be in life because I know I’m fully capable of doing so.
