Meet Crystal Stasolla in West Hollywood

Today we’d like to introduce you to Crystal Stasolla.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I grew up in a small town in CT. Ever since I was little, I wanted to be everything. I loved the idea of being good at multiple things. Watching TV and copying the actresses was my favorite hobby. As I got older, I had to narrow down what I wanted to be and was told to pick one career and stick to it. I decided to study cosmetology. Even though I loved beauty, always wanted to do more with my life than just work in a salon. I knew there had to be more out there than sticking to one thing forever. One day, I met a friend of a friend that worked in television and she offered my boyfriend and me Production Assistant positions. I was so excited and thought, “this is it!” When we first decided to move, I was so scared. We drove across country and broke down in Nebraska on the way. It was quite an adventure coming out here, but I knew it was the right choice the entire way. When I arrived, I expected to work on TV shows, meet celebrities, see magical Hollywood; What everyone expects when they come to LA. What I found was that this city isn’t just about the glitz and glamour. It’s a bunch of different people with many skills trying to make life more interesting. People are always looking to help each other out and are striving to reach their goals. I learned that being good at multiple things is amazing! And that wanting to do a bunch of jobs is 100% possible! I cringed in the beginning at the thought of having multiple jobs in a year’s period on my resume. Now, it’s a sign of success! I always wanted to sing, dance, and be center stage. It may not be the reality, but it’s the goal! I started doing hair and makeup on sets which led to YouTube videos and then my beauty blog! In a city like LA, I’m always striving to do more and be better. There’s always so much to be thankful for!

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
When I first moved out here, I was flustered to drive, had no friends, and didn’t have much work. Everything was so intimidating and fast-paced. In production and freelance work, there are dry spells and times where I didn’t know if I was going to find anything. I’ve worked in salons, shoe stores, and carpet companies on the side to make extra income. In all of these struggles, I found that fear is the #1 reason why we fail. We get scared and back away. What we need to do is feel the fear and do it anyway. I’ve overcome challenges and look back at me when I first moved here and think “wow! I’ve come so far!” Instead of focusing on all the negatives that have happened or all the times I’ve fallen, I focus on all that I’ve done to get where I am. Once you start putting yourself out there, you’ll find people actually do want to help. I made friends that have helped me out a lot. LA is all about breaking out of comfort zones and living your dream! Everyone wants to be more here and I think that makes it easy to dream big. Social media has been a great way to connect with people in LA and find new places to eat, hike, and share interests. Creating my blog was all about me having a voice and an opinion. I felt it was important to have a place to put all of my ideas out there. LA has taught me that it is important to have your own voice and be yourself!

Please tell us about Crystal Stasolla .
I’m a lifestyle blogger. I talk about beauty tips, products, positive thinking, food, fashion, and fitness! I love that I’m able to do my craft while still being able to work on set and travel. I want to uplift people and help people out. It is truly the best feeling when a new blog post goes out. Even if no one reads it, I love my blog. I want to be the voice that someone reads when they need a pick me up or advice. Hopefully, I can be the inspiration for someone else moving to LA to following their dreams!

Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
My favorite childhood memory was being on the beach in Italy, where I grew up, with my family. We would stay at a little villa on the water and play in the sand every day. I love spending time with my family and think it’s really important. My dad was the sole breadwinner in our family and would always save up to bring us back to Italy every summer. He was such an inspiration to me growing up. I always looked up to his work ethic and big heart. Him and my mom always told me to follow my dreams and dream big but always remember where I came from. Family is the most important thing.
