Today we’d like to introduce you to Craig Hubbard.
So, before we jump into specific questions, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
After moving from Brooklyn, NY to the Marina Peninsula in 2013, I was inspired to pick up the camera again. Surfing & skateboarding were wonderful photography subjects. I did and still do frequent the Venice Skatepark at dusk to study and capture those warm moments. I take the same approach with water photography. Dusk and dawn with light clouds (for texture) are ideal windows. Dense foggy days are also delightful with that diffused light!
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
It’s been a moderately textured ‘road’. Coming from the motion graphic world and breaking into the fine art zeitgeist isn’t necessarily ‘plug ‘n play’.
I welcome it though. Gonna be a fun journey!
We’d love to hear more about your work and what you are currently focused on. What else should we know?
I’m a motion design director by trade. Any day I get to incorporate fotos & footage with typography and sound design is a good day.
What were you like growing up?
Like many, I was a confused kid. Part of me wanted to be popular amongst my peers. The other part wanted to be left alone with a pencil, paper, and a tape recorder. Not much has changed 🙂
