Meet Cozi

Today we’d like to introduce you to Cozi.

Cozi, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I was born and raised in Inglewood I lived in between houses with my moms and pops as a kid, I gravitated towards the creative and fun aspects of life and it’s where I found myself most cozy lol. I started dabbling with photography around the age of five and music around the same time the arts were always my earliest forms of escapism there was always a song for every mood and everything that was going on in my life. I started doing photography more around 10 grade when I started wanted to record all of life’s fun moments and used ooo pop music to reflect how I was feeling other moments and when I met Yxng Ba$$ in high school, he started showing me a different side of the arts which was fashion in which I quickly indulged in and struggled to find my style but now at the age of 19 I have my own style and the arts and creative work have just become my life and main focus.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Ain’t nothing smooth about taking the creative road while having middle-class black parents they see it as a lazy and easy road of life and beside the normal people not wanting to support you I also had to deal with in sense backlash cause of the things I wanted to pursue because the creative works are things that are considered to be “white people sh*t” which kept me discouraged from doing these sorts of things for a while also losing my great aunt which was one of the most supportive people for my choice on the arts didn’t make life easier and I even played basketball so I could feel that I fit in better w my peers n felt more comfortable in my own skin but throughout high school and the new experiences I stopped caring and slowly jus became the person I already was.

We’d love to hear more about your work and what you are currently focused on. What else should we know?
I specialize in photography and fashion and I make music as a side hobby. I really proud of how much I grow as a person though and you can see me in all the things I do as wanting to be the coziest ever to do it but on the photography aspects jus how the shoots jus look cozy and how my clothes feel cozy, look cozy, how my music puts you in the most cozy moods and how cozy I am as a person, I can get comfortable in any environment.

What is “success” or “successful” for you?
I define success as a feeling that you get when you do something and can feel your essence in it for example, how you can look at a Picasso painting and see Picasso in it. Sheesh I have so many checkpoints for my life and this interview is just the start I’m trying to start a fashion brand soon as well as push more music but the ultimate milestone for me would be me taking pictures or being a personal photographer for like uzi, any of the asap members, Carti, Kendrick and the list continues but right I’m just happy to have come this far also website coming soon.
