Today we’d like to introduce you to Courtney Lewis and Jordan Moore.
Jordan Moore + Courtney Lewis are the team behind The Happy Space. The two best friends often discussed and strategized (over lots of coffee) about how to manage the stress-inducing clutter in their Pacific Palisades beach bungalows. Through trial and error they came up with simple systems to organize all the papers, possessions, and personal effects throughout their homes.
Soon their friends began asking for their help and when those friends began referring others, they opened their doors for business.
With backgrounds in interior design, project management and community service, Courtney and Jordan collaborate with their clients to create customized Happy Spaces. They specialize in practical organizing solutions, decluttering, and establishing systems that help you live a more peaceful life. Clients report that hiring The Happy Space has reduced their stress, saved them time and money, and increased their productivity.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Keeping up with social media has been a challenge, we want to be engaged and have fresh new content but it can feel like another full-time job.
Creating an easy and efficient system for tracking organizing inventory was a challenge that we keep fine-tuning.
The Marie Kondo “Tidying up” craze was great for us in the sense that it highlighted the work of home organizers. However, it continues to be a challenge to communicate to our clients that we aren’t quite as strict when it comes to keeping or donating items. We are realists and believe that not everything in your home has to bring joy, but it should have a “home” to keep it in.
The Happy Space – what should we know? What do you do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
The Happy Space is a Los Angeles based lifestyle and organizational company. We believe in simplicity and down-to-earth solutions that the entire family will benefit from.
Our philosophy is that an organized and clutter-free home changes the lives of the people living under its roof. When order is created, it frees up time for creativity, productivity, relaxation, and quality time with loved ones.
We are able to take our life experiences from having families and from our past careers, and we create a balance between having “stuff” and not feeling like you are drowning in it.
What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
The texts and emails that we get from our clients make us so proud. We love bumping into clients who tell us proudly that they are keeping up with our work. This recent email was really special:
“You guys, I cannot thank you enough. I feel so joyful this evening. I feel hopeful and motivated. My tendency toward clutter and avoidance have always been a big weight on my heart and have brought about a lot of self-esteem issues. Working with you guys today did so much for me and I can’t wait to continue.”
