Meet Corinne Pulsinelle of Coco Nella

Today we’d like to introduce you to Corinne Pulsinelle.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
At the age of 23, I began painting under the name Coco Nella while I was living in the Philadelphia area. In Art school I realized that I don’t necessarily strive to be in a gallery but rather a muralist and commissioned painter. I wanted my work to be a part of people’s everyday lives, not just those who frequent art openings. I began working on custom hand painted commissions, ranging from a pair of shoes to a 50 foot mural.

Moving to Los Angeles has enabled my business to expand in so many ways, primarily because people here seem to love color and welcome large-scale painting.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
I am thankful for all of the unique challenges that I’ve experienced since the humble beginnings of Coco Nella. On the East Coast, it was tough because I really wasn’t getting the type of modern, geometric painting requests I was looking for. There were also a lot more hoops to jump through as far as getting approval for things. Moving to Los Angeles was a HUGE challenge at first because I really didn’t know anyone in the industry and I had to start over with everything including supplies. I am grateful for this experience because I learned how to hustle, how to make money and how to stay true to my style even though I am working on commissions.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Coco Nella – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
Coco Nella is a company that specializes in custom, modern paintings ranging from small scale works to murals. As the owner, I infuse my projects with an obsession for color, pattern, and geometry. I like to transform spaces with a combination of color and super clean line work. My favorite part of the process is the feeling that I am collaborating with my clients and fellow designers, as I create work to suit the personality and lifestyle of those who inhabit each space. The bigger the wall (or canvas) the better! A huge geometric wall mural can completely transform a room.

So, what’s next? Any big plans?
Coco Nella plans to expand its team of collaborators and range of projects. Large exterior walls in the Los Angeles area are definitely on our radar, as well as growing the network of talented interior designers who would like custom murals for their clients.
