Meet Cole Brewer of All Valley Parking / The Old Town Slider in Temecula

Today we’d like to introduce you to Cole Brewer.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
Growing up, I was always good at sports never very good at school. Sure I carried a 3.2 average through high school but what did that really mean? After high school I had some opportunities to play college basketball out of state, but instead I decided to stay close to home. In my final season of college basketball, I endured a career ending injury. At this point I had no idea what I was going to do with my life, basketball was everything. I attended college to play basketball and wasn’t sure if I could afford furthering my education after getting hurt, or better yet if it was even the path for me. After a few months of sleepless nights and not knowing what to do next, I had an idea to try and open a business, work for myself and see what I could build. Till this day I’d still tell you in a joking matter that was the best, worst decision of my life. In September 2015 I got a business plan together and asked my uncle for a business loan. I needed a valet stand, some insurance and a dry fit nike uniform with my company’s name on it (had to be nike). I started doing what I knew best that didn’t involve shooting a basketball, which unfortunately was parking cars as a valet.

Prior to this I had six years of valet experience, opening what is in my mind the best restaurant in San Diego, Kettner Exchange. I learned a lot from the gentleman I worked for and he became somewhat of a role model to me. But I knew I couldn’t “work for the man” forever, literally. So here I am waving cars off the main road in Old Town Temecula. After little to zero success, I got a break. A local steak house called me and said they needed help with parking. Walking into my first meeting I had no business degree, no prior experience in sales, or any idea of how the hell I’d make it all work. For some reason these gracious people believed in me, or maybe they just really needed help with parking but either way I landed my first account. The Gambling Cowboy in Old Town Temecula it had been a staple in my hometown for years! (highly recommended, and not because we work with them).

Fast forward three years (almost four) and somehow we are still in business. All Valley Parking (AVP) has four accounts; The Gambling Cowboy, Danza Del Sol Winery, Akash Winery, and Morgan Estate Wedding Venue. I am beyond humbled to sit here and say that today. Then earlier this year in January we decided to start a free shuttle through Old Town Temecula with all electric, eco friendly, high-end golf carts. Now AVP has a subsidiary sister company called the Old Town Slider (OTS). For the sake of your time reading this we are ecstatic about OTS! We have been in business for almost one year and have had over ten local businesses support us. With businesses support we in turn advertise and spread the word about them. We have the support from the city’s Economic Development department and are giving more and more free rides by the month. Right now we are averaging over forty-five hundred riders a month on only three four hour shifts; Friday & Saturday night from 6pm-10pm and Sunday from 11am-3pm. OTS will be the heart and sole of Old Town Temecula. As my little hometown continues to grow OTS will help all visitors with free rides through Old Town, all while spotlighting local businesses.

It’s actually crazy to look back and think about certain scenarios and moments where you asked yourself is this all worth it? Starting all this as a twenty-four year old lad and now growing into the man I am today, it has been a crazy journey for me and all those who have helped along the way. I am beyond blessed to have an amazing suppport system and such a hard working team, because without them, none of this would be possible. Everyday you have your highs and lows and like I said before this was the best worst thing I’ve ever done but till this day… I wouldn’t change it for anything.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Definitely not. When you imagine it all you imagine it being easy. Sure you know there are going to be things that you have to deal with but you are never truly ready for all that comes your way. In reading this question the first thing I think about when it comes to struggle in my story is losing my dad when I was seventeen. You’re forced to grow up quick, with my mom and sister in the house I put a lot of pressure on myself to be “the man” of the house. At seventeen, I was nowhere near that, I just wanted to hangout with my friends and play basketball and video games.

But that built me, it made me never settle and I think thats where the drive to be an entrepreneur comes from. When it comes to the business world this question is too broad, there’s always an obstacle in your way. It’s about learning how to deal with them I think that means most to me. Never getting to high or too low, never taking no for an answer. It’s about finding solutions and working through the obstacles.

Please tell us about All Valley Parking LLC. / The Old Town Slider.
All Valley Parking is our LLC, the Old Town Slider as its subsidiary. At its purest form AVP is a parking company, we help solve parking problems. Whether that be with valet, traffic control, shuttle service or whatever it may be. The Old Town Slider is a free shuttle through Old Town that promotes local businesses in the valley’s most densely populated area. By direct consumer advertising we are sharing everything you need to know about Temecula while enjoying a free ride. We are excited to say we have many new ideas and opportunities arising from OTS.

Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
Man, that’s a tough question, as I was so blessed to have such loving parents and grow up in a supportive environment. But I guess when I reread that question one that sticks out to me in particular is when I was five, I won first overall in a baseball contest. It was 250 kids all doing baseball related competitions. Who could throw the farthest and fastest, home run derby, etc. To this day that is my biggest trophy and the very first time of very few I saw my dad cry.
