Meet Claudia Warren of Santa Monica Plastics LLC in Santa Monica

Today we’d like to introduce you to Claudia Warren.

Santa Monica Plastics, LLC is owned by Eric and Claudia Warren who established their company in Santa Monica, California in December of 2011. Bruce Zelesnik, the lead sales representative, with his significant plastics industry experience, has also been integral to the company.

Eric and Claudia express characteristic warmth and curiosity toward developing Santa Monica Plastics into a company that will play a major role in their love of lifelong learning. In this way they would like their company to be a hub for plastic goods and services and a place that inspires creativity, ingenuity, and community oriented values.

Their vision is to create a home base for brilliant designers, fabricators, plastic specialists, and sales representatives with a heart for integrity – to meet the plastic needs and interests of the public while flourishing in their careers. Since plastic has a wide variety of uses and is becoming increasingly environmental, there continues to be a multitude of ways for the Santa Monica Plastics team to grow more adept.

Claudia and Eric Warren (Husband and Wife) started Santa Monica Plastics on January 2nd, 2012 after Hastings Plastics closed its doors. Hastings Plastics of Santa Monica. Established in 1956 by Norry Hastings, the company was well known in the plastic industry — Bruce who worked at Hastings Plastics for almost 30 years came along to work at Santa Monica Plastics as the top sales rep.

Ownership of Hastings Plastics changed hands in 2000 and later closed in 2011 when the property was sold to make way for the Expo Light Rail. Eric, having worked in fabrication for six-and-a-half years, and Bruce, having worked in sales since the mid-eighties, were encouraged by customers to continue the Hastings legacy. Together, with Claudia, they soon discovered the possibilities for starting a new company, and the idea for Santa Monica Plastics was born.

We have been in business now for 5 years and moved to a great location off Colorado Blvd. 1631 Stanford Street Santa Monica, CA 90404.

Our customers are from our local community and span from Artists, Galleries, Museums, Construction Co., Architects, Art College Students, Studios, Interior Designers, Photographers and many more.

We cut and Fabricate Acrylic. Our Master craftsman, Erik Ricci is now at our location and he is known and recognized in Los Angeles among notable designers and artists.
We will continue to grow and serve the LA area and community for years to come.
Thank you.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Our first obstacle was having to move from our 1st location on Stewart and Colorado in May of 2015.
We were given 30 days on April 1st to move out which was not much time.
It was a very stressful time but we found out new location up the street and we were thrilled to say the least.

We have branched out and hired Interns from Otis College over the summer which gives us a very dynamic feel when clients come in.

We have our own Truck to make deliveries and machines such as a Laser Cutter, CNC.

Next Step would be to expand to a larger facility and making Santa Monica Plastics a Franchise.

Please tell us about Santa Monica Plastics LLC.
Our specialty is fabricating the Acrylic such as Display boxes or what they call Vitrines – Museum quality.

We believe that what sets us apart is our exceptional customer service, we are very friendly and produce high-quality work and in a timely manner to the public.

We are very artsy in our environment so when people come in they get excited about things and their own project that we bring to life.

We love bringing in Students to Intern to have the young-minded add to our environment.

We put on an Art show over the summer of 2016 which was very well received.
We want to bring this to life on a monthly basis and have Art shows (Pop-up) Art shows on the weekends to showcase up and coming artists.

If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
We would have gotten more capital funds to start with a larger warehouse.

And also more funds toward Social Media and our website.

We are putting efforts toward that now.
