Today we’d like to introduce you to Claudia Monge.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
After 20+ years as a Buyer in Food Service, I decided to create Hey Puppy and utilize my product and marketing skills towards my two passions for dogs, cats, and Mexican culture. To not only share beautiful one of a kind hand made pieces but also dog bedsheets; which are a great way to save money and keep your home and pup cleaner.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
As with any other small business and start up my obstacles have been having the revenue to source product, market, and distribute. But most important has been in identifying the best selling platforms. Finding the right selling venue for my items has been time-consuming and very costly.
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Hey Puppy – what should we know?
I have been known as the dog lady for many years. I am a late bloomer dog parent, and since my first dog was a Pitbull, I had a lot to learn.
Since then, I have been donating, volunteering, and fostering dogs for years, my goal is to generate revenue thru selling beautiful pieces to aid in pet care and owner education for better dog treatment, so that communities can see their pets in their rightful place as family members, not security or a back yard resident.
What sets Hey Puppy apart is its goal, which comes from the heart, to help both furry babies and families who want to have a dog or cat but can’t afford it.
Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
I have had help from so many people, but those who have been a key to our success thus far are Daniel Vasquez who believed in my dog bedsheet idea and was a key player in the design.
My brilliant sister, Liliana Monge who is business mind wiz and keep me motivated with ideas and challenges, and Robert Hernandez, who is not only the muscle and technical brain, but the most amazing companion and partner.
