Meet Claudia Bermudez of Curious in Los Angeles

Today we’d like to introduce you to Claudia Bermudez.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Claudia. So, let’s start at the beginning, and we can move on from there.
At nine years old, my family and I made a difficult decision. We packed our bags and moved from Lima, Peru to Los Angeles, California. Being a DACA recipient/DREAMER in the United States is probably one of the most important roles I play. It is emotionally difficult yet extremely rewarding.

I love the fact that although there are so many obstacles in front of me, I have been able to achieve every goal on my list and keep on striving for more. Ever since I was a kid, I always had a knack for entertaining people. It wasn’t until after college, where I thought “hmm, maybe I should be an entertainer instead of a marketer” and that is where the idea for ‘Curious in Los Angeles’ came to fruition.

My first step was to learn the craft, so I took an “Introduction to Hosting” class in Sherman Oaks last year, and I was hooked. I immediately loved reporting, entertaining and connecting with the audience. Soon after, I teamed up with my brother Ron and friend/cohost Dolores to start our weekly web show “Curious in L.A” via IGTV and Facebook.

Curious in L.A allows me to share my favorite restaurants and fun spots in L.A, as well as daily doses of pop culture. I am a major pop culture junkie. Curious in L.A is my passion project, and it truly feeds my soul.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Curious in L.A was definitely not a smooth road. It took me a few years to realize that my passion lied in entertainment. As an immigrant, financial aid was very limited, so I had to pay and pave my own way through college. I’m pretty much sorting new ideas to benefit the brand, but I truly love what I do and cannot wait to see Curious in L.A’s growth.

Curious in Los Angeles – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
Curious in L.A is a platform for people who love Los Angeles. We love sharing our favorite restaurants, places to visit and of course trending pop culture news. We share weekly videos on our IGTV channel and post 1-2 times a day on Instagram and Facebook.

What sets us apart is our playful dynamic. My cohost Dolores aka “Dlo” is a major tomboy and also a few years younger than me, so she brings in a younger fresh perspective. Meanwhile, I am a total girly girl and obsess over pop culture and beauty.

What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
One of the proudest moment of my career was being selected as a finalist of the Latin magazine, Siempre Mujer’s “Musa” contest. It was an amazing feeling being chosen to represent Latinas in the United States.

Being able to experience New York for the first time as a “model,” be part of a professional photo shoot and have a feature on a national magazine are memories that I will always treasure.
