Today we’d like to introduce you to Christina Cindrich.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Christina . So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there. I started young. I spent most of my youth training in ballet, tap, jazz, piano, acting and musical theater in my hometown of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. In my Junior year of high school, I was asked to represent the state of Pennsylvania in the nationally televised Miss Teen USA pageant. Once I graduated High School, I moved to Los Angeles to attend Loyola Marymount University, found an agent and manager, and began working in TV, films and national commercials. That’s my childhood in a nutshell.
It was a vastly different undertaking that allowed me to expand my skill set when I sacrificed Hollywood to become a News Anchor in the mountains of Boone, North Carolina in 2009, a sacrifice that allowed me to produce my own content. (One of which was the Woolly Worm Festival where they raced worms up a string to determine how severe the winter weather was going to be in the mountains!) This role ultimately set me up for a return to the West Coast and the opportunity of a lifetime to produce, host and write travel TV shows at an international network based in San Diego called AWE. I was in an office from 8-5pm every day and didn’t have the energy for a social life but I did have the incredible opportunity to travel to dozens of countries which was my true dream job. I was fortunate to have had a few successful series over the 5 years with a loyal audience of 25 million+ viewers whom I now consider members of my own tribe and community. I feel I’ve built that special trust with them over the years not only on TV but also on social media.
I moved back to Los Angeles in 2015 to freelance and expand my portfolio. I’ve since worked on numerous travel series with multiple production companies. In October 2018, I started my own production company called Christina Cindrich Productions and created a new travel show called Global Passport that was picked up by AWE and premiered in July 2019! I’m currently in production for this 13-episode series and am having the time of my life being in charge of the whole creative process while also being my own boss.
Over the past year, I’ve also brought my love of travel to the lab by creating a skin care line based around exotic ingredients I discovered in my travels to Tahiti. I’m currently in the process of seeking distribution for the line.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
It’s been a hell of a ride. I’ve always believed that people who achieve the most in life are the ones who are able to leave their comfort zone and the road to success is not always paved.
Leaving Hollywood for North Carolina in 2009 was a scene out of a movie. I was a big fish in a small pond. It was a culture shock in every way possible. I was the only news anchor in 12 counties and worked 7 days a week. I lived through 2 blizzards and an ice storm and the closest airport was over 2 hours away. I was so lonely and lost a bit of my spirit during that time but I knew this was a part of paying my dues and that by moving away from the familiar was going to give me the results that I was seeking professionally. The reward came a year later.
The next set of struggles really hit hard when I left my steady job and income to move back to Los Angeles in 2015. Let’s just say I was not prepared for the entrepreneurial roller coaster. I learned that many people don’t have the same work ethic or moral principles that I do and you better have thick skin to keep up in this town. Over the years, I’ve needed numerous attorneys just to get paid for the work I was contracted to do. I have stories for days but the moral is I’ve learned from my mistakes and have become a smarter and stronger businesswoman which could have only happened through experience.
Please tell us about Christina Cindrich Productions.
I’m blessed to be able to produce engaging content through my own media channels while impacting and inspiring others in the process.
My current series Global Passport is all about bucket-list experiences, local connections, and cultural insights. Each destination has its own authenticity and story to tell and I’m able to illustrate that through my work.
If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
Professionally? Wouldn’t change anything. My journey has unfolded exactly how it’s supposed to. I am 100% accountable for my own success in work and in life.
