Meet Chief Johnson of PUMA in West LA

Today we’d like to introduce you to Chief Johnson.

So, before we jump into specific questions, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I originally moved to LA in 2003 to pursue a music career. We released an album in 2006, tons of shows, had some mild success but through circumstances with the label things didn’t work out as planned which led me to other opportunities within marketing, fashion. A very long journey but worth every bit, each step and opportunity pathed the way to where I am now.

Has it been a smooth road?
I don’t think in life there is really such a thing as a smooth journey. Life is a rollercoaster for us all I think it’s more how you navigate through it and your outlook is what makes the difference. I’ve lost a lot, been turned down a lot, struggled on all fronts just like so many others, but just kept pushing through it. I also think without failure you can’t prepare or have insight on how to be or become better.

We’d love to hear more about your work and what you are currently focused on. What else should we know?
I work for Global Sport Brand PUMA, and I work directly within Entertainment and talent department. Which is great because my first passion is music with sports being a close second. I’m not sure exactly what I’m known for I hope it’s a man who delivers, brings opportunities and drives teamwork. PUMA is a great brand I feel like they really strive to understand people and not afraid to take chances on product and also on individuals, teams. PUMA has a long legacy and for a company to be around for so long and still strive to be better and grow and do things different is amazing. I’m just happy to be apart of a great company, and try and contribute.

What sets me apart from others I think is just constantly trying to improve, delivering, being consistent, being a stand up person is something to be proud of. And the ability to evolve in this fast pace world.

Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
LA is great might sound bias but what this city offers to me more than anywhere else is opportunity and I feel that’s why so many people gravitate here. It’s giving me the opportunity to meet some amazing people who nurtured me, mentors me, provided me with so many opportunities so I’m forever grateful to this city. Also it’s inspiring and really makes you strive to be great.

Least probably the same as most the traffic.
