Meet Cheyenne Jolene of BodaciousThang in Hollywood

Today we’d like to introduce you to Cheyenne Jolene.

Cheyenne, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
Luis and I started playing together in 2010. We played in a few different projects but one particular project, “WearetheBigBang” stood out the most. It was a 6-piece band with two lead female singers. We wrote together, partied together traveled together, lived together…Needless to say, we were more than bandmates, we were family. Today I can happily say, we still are.

But in 2016, things started to decline with “WearetheBigBang” – internally. Not so much externally – from the outside looking in things looked great. But, we all wanted different things in the long run and by the time we found that out – our hopes were exhausted… So, we decided to split at the end of 2016.

After the split, Luis and I continued to write together. And in 2017, “BodaciousThang” became our new musical baby.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Well – the LA grind is not smooth for anybody. Unless you come from money, I suppose. But I ain’t never had none of that, haha. I feel one of my biggest struggles is staying focused. It’s so easy to get caught up in just trying to survive. It’s a valid thing to get caught up in, but it’s still not an excuse to neglect your career goals.

Please tell us about BodaciousThang.
I am the lead singer/songwriter and Luis Munoz is the guitarist/songwriter in BodaciousThang. We felt very timid in our previous project. So, we wanted to create something where we were free to express whatever the hell we wanted. We hope to inspire others to do the same. Life is too short to be afraid.

A lot of people also look at us and immediately assume we are an r&b group. We are definitely more than that and are inspired by all genres. We like to call it punk-soul. I love to see people’s reaction when I show them our track “Shiny Ass Ho” – it never disappoints Haha.

What is “success” or “successful” for you?
Success comes in so many forms. But to me, success starts within. If you are working towards a genuine goal- something you know you really want to do AND you are enjoying the ride on the way? That’s a success that most never encounter.
