Meet Chef Kang of Chef Kang Food Truck in Midwishire

Today we’d like to introduce you to Chef Kang.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I worked as a mortgage broker for 16years. I always had the passion for cooking as a Chef but never had the confidence until my wife gave me that little push to go for it. Started 2years ago in gourmet catering and business went really well. I didn’t want to end there so I started my longtime dream of franchising a gourmet food truck 6 months ago. I had no experience in Food truck business so for the first 3 months, my wife and I struggled physically, emotionally and financially. Even with many hardships, with support of my wife and customers enlighten smile when they tried my cuisine, things started to pick up. It’s been 6 months since I began this journey and finally I see the light at the end of the tunnel.

Has it been a smooth road?
For the first 3 months, we had little or no sales. We were unknown to public and without any yelp reviews to show what I was about, people just passed by often and reluctant to give my Food a shot. Even though we had little or no sales every day, I made $300-$400 worth of preparation that I had to throw away send of the night so without any income coming in we were losing money left and right. At one point I almost gave up on my longtime dream of food truck franchise and go back to gourmet catering but my passion and will to prove myself kept me going.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Chef Kang Food Truck – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
Chef Kang Food truck and catering service provides gourmet entrees that you wouldn’t expect off of a food truck. I wanted to show that you can get $60 prime sirloin steak that you would normally get at a fancy restaurant on my food truck without breaking your wallet. Crafted 10 ounce marinated steak burger that’s charbroiled for less than $10. Korean BBQ dish that was marinated to perfection to let my customers find out the real Korean BBQ is all about. Jambalaya taste that you would only get at a 5 diamond hotels in Vegas. None of the menu over $15, variety of Out of ordinary gourmet food that is amazing visually and taste wise was my concept of my food truck with reasonable prices for everyday person to enjoy. Fine dining for delivery and pickup with down to earth pricing was set and now people are catching on what Chef Kang is all about

Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
I love the fact that LA is such a diversified city. People are great here. Also, the food, name any nationality food and it’s available. Also, great weather all year around, beach, mountains, lakes and much more to enjoy in a such a short distance.

Not a huge fan of the traffic.
