Meet Charlee (C Bleu) Hines of Bleu Magic in Compton

Today we’d like to introduce you to Charlee Hines.

Charlee, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I’m a 13-year-old rapper. I started rapping at the age of three and performing at the age of five. I’m a fun energetic person with a passion for music & art. My first performance was in kindergarten at my school talent show. I got a standing ovation and from then I knew this was something I loved to do. Fast forward to when I was 11 years old, my dad took me to a Lupe Fiasco concert which happened to be one of my favorite rappers.

Long story short, the night ended with me performing live on stage with Lupe Fiasco. Another standing ovation confirmed that this is what I was born to do! I dropped my first mixtape “Just A Kid” on February 16, 2018, and began building my fan base with performances and appearances in and around my city. I started my own clothing line, Bleu Magic, January 2018. I provide a variety of merchandise which includes hoodies, T-shirts, crop tops, and even customized baby onesies! My mission is to provide avenues, information and knowledge through my music, merchandise and positive public image.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Some of the struggles along the way have been balancing school, music, and free time. I resolve that struggle by having a daily schedule to keep me focused and organized.

Bleu Magic – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
I started my own clothing line, Bleu Magic, January 2018. I provide a variety of merchandise which includes hoodies, T-shirts, crop tops, and even customized baby onesies! The mission of C Bleu/Bleu Magic is to encourage and enrich the youth. Especially the youth of color, who tend to have a struggle with self-love due to their environment. I rap, write, design clothes, and do live performances to ultimately bring positivity & joy to the human mind & spirit! I am mostly known for being a young lyricist and my engaging performances. I am most proud of what I have accomplished in 13 years. I feel my positive energy and ability to respect myself as a young lady and artist sets me apart from others.

What is “success” or “successful” for you?
I personally define success as setting a goal and accomplishing it. My criteria consist of brainstorming, writing down my goals, prioritizing, and staying focused on the task at hand until accomplished.
