Today we’d like to introduce you to Cat Miggs.
Cat, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I am an actress from NYC; I knew my path was comedy… I was in the beginnings of improv career. A friend and I were not happy about our acting reels, so we decided to make a web series and showcase our comedy. At the time web series was unheard of, and YouTube was in its beginnings as well.
A month later we shot, edited and uploaded our web series “Morning Cup” on YouTube and overnight it became a hit. Soooo… I’ve been with YouTube a long time and as far as improv goes… so many wonderful things, from Puppet Improv to Musical Improv to short form to long form and everything in between; boy did I put in my 10,000 hours, and I still improve to this day!
As a shy kid growing up, learning and practicing improv really helped my communication skills and thru improv I have found my voice and my inner superpower.
When I started using my improv skills to create characters and showcase them on my YouTube Channel: Witty Ball of Fire, I started booking paid gigs. I realized I was onto something; my friends would ask me how I did it… so I created a course: YouTube Star Course that helps tweak one’s channel to pounce to the next level.
No matter what career you are in, Improv is a great life skill in so many ways. I believe improv is best learned “In Real Life” thus I created my school: Improv IRL that helps the shy spectrum young adult who feels misunderstood be able to communicate in any given situation.
On weekends I am a puffy paint designer that just launched my purses and pumps line for the “Cat lovers” out there. Of course, you can find more in detail on my website: www.catmiggs.com or follow me on Instagram: @CatMiggs.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Obstacles and challenges I face are more the internal battles one has with oneself. Being patience with oneself, enjoying the journey, loving ones self-knowing “I am good enough,” getting out of the house and meeting people.
Of course, if you meet me in person you would never think I”m shy or had speech problems but as a naturally shy person who can easily become a hermit; I force myself to be social, get out and talk to people and yes sometimes words come out of my mouth wrong.
We’d love to hear more about what you do.
