Meet Cassius King

Today we’d like to introduce you to Cassius King.

Hi Cassius, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
As a filmmaker from the Bay Area, I really started off from photography, filming home videos, and parties with friends (and a bunch of other random videos). That transpired into doing music videos for the homies, which other artists saw these videos and so that’s when the inquiries started to come for me as a professional. Corporate videos and Commercials always have inspired me along with also trying to implement a Narrative as a baseline for music videos. Fast forward to now living in LA and having a whole network of professional creatives each with different skill sets really allows a market for hiring specialists, and that’s what we are exactly aiming for.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
There’s been multiple obstacles, speed bumps, derailments, wasted time, burnt money, energy drained, doubts, and everything else in between. Many times of wanting to quit and give up. Many times of questioning if what I was doing was the correct thing. With a family and 2 kids to raise and the pressures of society would easily break a weak-hearted person. Fortunately what didn’t break me only made me stronger, and could easily have not been where I am today without the experiences I have gone through, good and bad. The past 10 years have been a grind, and I remember specifically telling myself I would put my head down and grind and not look up, only coming up for a breath of air and then diving right back in. The issue with this tunnel vision mentality is life also passed me by. I sacrificed years of my life to be in a position to make decisions that can affect many. It is a blessing a curse but I believe the grind will truly make you find out if you want this or not. I am a perfect example of putting the grind before everything because I know 10+ years of grind could set up my family for generations.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
Coming from a construction background, I always indulged in the tools use to build and create. This is what led me to believe others enjoyed it too and renting out the equipment I used became a real thing for me. In the same instance, the people using the equipment need training to ensure the use and safety of crew on set. A big reason why we train so aggressively because as Specialty Motion Operators we need to perform flawlessly and efficiently. Our margin of error is way more smaller than typical teams. We build up chemistry and are really focused on synergy as we believe this can become muscle memory as well. My personal favorite setups are the team operations we have from Car Mount Operations to Crane and Drone Operations. All of these advanced and specialty motion operations require training and competent techs. I specialize in the Crane Operations and when not in the field, I’m doing the research and development of systems for more Equipment Acquisitions to bring these tools directly to the team and network in general.

If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
Growing up, I didn’t have much. I quickly learned you got to go out and get what you want. I have always hustled and have always been interested in business. As soon as I found something I loved, I knew it was something that I could sell and hustle because my mentality has always been to be the best I can be. It’s also not so much about the sale, but more so of the process of getting up to that point of sale where someone feels so comfortable and trusting in you in what you plan to deliver (especially something that is not tangible but can be felt emotionally connected). I feel that I have endured a lot in life and therefore have a lot of relatable experiences that have helped clients entrust that I know exactly what they need with a deep understanding of the tools we deploy.
