Meet Cassidy Liston

Today we’d like to introduce you to Cassidy Liston

Cassidy, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
When the pandemic started, I had a lot going on for work, yet was feeling pretty stagnant in my life. Then boom, lockdown. On top of all the madness of the pandemic, I lost one of my dearest friends and mentor: Layla. She was incredible, so honest and fearless in a way I had always looked up to. Layla has been so ambitious and made every moment hers, which made me realize I needed to do the same. I know it’s cliche, but life is short. When it became clear things were not going to be “going back to normal” anytime soon, I realized I needed to take advantage of this time, so my co-host Amanda and I decided to do what we had always wanted to do; create something. Podcasting came as the natural outlet since we could do it remotely without much trouble and we both had experience with theatrics. From there it just kind of clicked and we haven’t changed the formula much since episode 1!

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It wasn’t always easy getting everything together. Between lockdown restrictions constantly changing, the burnout of creating fresh content constantly, trying to stand out while being consistent; we’ve fought and cried and been stressed out, but mostly we have had fun. The pandemic has been such a huge emotional drain on everyone and we were no different. I think changing our perspective and looking at this as an outlet and not a responsibility has really helped.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
Our podcast is one dedicated to the mysterious, but it’s also really funny. We like the strange, the unheard, and the unsolved. While we cover topics from true crime to conspiracy theories, I’ve found myself really interested in people and things that seem to just disappear and Amanda loves everything extraterrestrial. The whole concept of the podcast is asking questions and trying to grasp how little we really know while having a good laugh and learning something new. I personally am really proud of the community we have created. There are so many people who have reached out to us and said how we got them through the tough parts of quarantine and helped them learn a weird thing or two, all while making them laugh. Which is important! We love ghosts and aliens but we don’t mock the concepts. We love to have an open mind!

If you had to, what characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to?
I would say the thing that makes us successful is our friendship. Amanda and I have been friends for nearly a decade and it shows. We joke and tease each other about everything while never being mean. Also, while I have an almost obsessive interest in weird stuff, Amanda doesn’t so much! We want people who listen to feel like they’re sitting at happy hour having a chat with some friends about a weird Wikipedia rabbit hole they fell down.
