Meet Casey McDougal

Today we’d like to introduce you to Casey McDougal.

Casey, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
In 2017, I had decided, post-divorce, to move to LA. I was working in film and TV in New York City and Boston. So, after wrapping on “New Mutants,” as a stand-in, I flew out to Los Angeles to look around, visit friends, and figure out where I was going to live. One day, I was looking at apartments in Hollywood, when I received a phone call, offering me a job interview for a film. Five minutes later, I got a phone call from my now roommate who said, “Hey, would you be able to move in next week?” Without thinking, I said, “Sure, sounds good.” I knew it was a sign that everything was falling into place. I decided to move into a new apartment with nothing but my carry on luggage.

Since then, I have had roles in the film, “Vice,” as well as “Fresh Off the Boat,” and “Veep.” I feel very lucky to have gotten my start in the businesses in a smaller market, which prepared me to be ready to work in LA.

Has it been a smooth road?
It’s been a bumpy road here and there, absolutely. Sometimes you get a streak of good luck with gigs and other times, it’s dry. I think consistency is the most important thing.

Please tell us about your work.
Comedy is my favorite part about this business and I believe that laughter is the best medicine. I often get cast in quirky, comedic roles, and I recently started posting videos on Tik Tok of my dog talking in my “kid voice.” I believe in finding the best in people, uplifting others, and doing work that helps people to laugh and let go a bit. Life is short, so it’s important to enjoy it.

How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
I think a lot is changing in Hollywood in the next several years. From the Me, Too movement, to Black Lives Matter, all the way to streaming platforms, etc. it is bound to change. I think the most important thing we can do as actors and creators is to remain flexible and adapt to the changes by creating our own work and staying informed.
