Meet Carrie Mikuls

Today we’d like to introduce you to Carrie Mikuls.

Hi Carrie, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Hi! My name is Carrie and I am a Reiki Master and Yoga instructor. I love to teach! I teach Reiki, Yoga, meditation and dance. I am originally from a small mountain town called Idyllwild, Ca. I grew up surrounded by artists and interesting people and so much beauty and nature. My father was a professional blues musician and my mother a self-proclaimed hippie. Growing up, my world was filled with soul music and creativity. My parents always taught me to follow my dreams and connect to my authenticity. Their encouragement inspired me to learn and explore so many different things in my life.

I started out as a professional dancer and choreographer. My choreography has toured all over the world and was nominated for an NAACP Theatre Award. In 2017, I was diagnosed with autoimmune disease and found myself chronically ill. My life was changed forever. I no longer had the energy and stamina to dance professionally or audition. On my path toward recovery I found energy healing. Energy work and my roots in movement have guided me in the development of my intuition, claircognizance, clairsentience and my ability to guide others on their path of healing.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I would not characterize the road as smooth necessarily. It shifts and changes. I was the first person in my family to graduate from college. I did not have any idea how to start a business or how business worked. These perceived limitations kept me from starting my own business. I was afraid of the unknown. Like I had mentioned before, my plans had always been to dance, choreograph and teach and when I was faced with illness, my life shifted dramatically. All of a sudden I was sick and it seemed like no one knew what was wrong with me or how to fix it. I was diagnosed with autoimmune, chronic illness and because of my compromised immune system, I was also dealing with viral, bacterial and fungal infections. The plans that I had for my future just stopped. I asked questions like “Why me?” And, “How did I get this way?” I am an athlete, I eat healthy! Western Medicine could not provide me with answers and in fact said I was sub-clinical, meaning they couldn’t help me. This set me on a path to find healing for myself with Chinese Medicine, Naturopathic Medicine and Energy Healing. During this time of my life, I discovered that if I wanted to heal I was to become my own healer. Through these incredible challenges I was now facing, I truly became my own healer. I now guide others on their journey of holistic healing. Even when there are bumps in the road, and sometimes those bumps are the size of mountains, I have learned that the bigger the mountain the more breathtaking the view on the other side.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I empower those seeking spiritual, physical or emotional wellbeing through intuitive guidance, Reiki healing, Yoga and meditation. Many of my clients include those that suffer from chronic illness, chronic conditions or addiction, those seeking stress relief and more fulfillment in their lives. I teach group classes, private Reiki and Yoga sessions and I also offer intuitive guidance (which is very similar to coaching). And for those who want to become Reiki healers themselves, I also lead Reiki Certifications. For me healing is not just about the body, but it is also about the mind and the spirit. It is about being able to access joy even through the challenges of life and connecting with your authentic self.

When I use the word healing, I am referring to bringing yourself back to yourself and finding true harmony in all areas of your life. This includes work life, relationships, physical health, spiritual health and mental health. I love watching the transformation that occurs in my clients as they fall in love with themselves. When one experiences true love for themselves, they begin to see the world through that same lens. We are all humans, we are not perfect, we all make mistakes, and we are all worthy of love. One thing that sets me apart is I have experienced all the things that I walk my clients through. I have been on a path of healing so I understand what it’s like. The complexity, the fear, the hope. I have been there. I show others the path I have taken and help them find their own.

We love surprises, fun facts and unexpected stories. Is there something you can share that might surprise us?
I am a gospel singer. I love music and singing and I sing with two local choirs. Selah Gospel Choir and Agape International Global Choir. Singing brings me so much joy! There is really nothing like singing and harmonizing with all of those beautiful voices. I even get to sing a solo every now and then.
