Today we’d like to introduce you to Carlos Sanchez.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Carlos. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
My photography journey started back in 2015. after graduating college, I picked up a camera and I was hooked. A good friend of mine Juan (IG: Districtvsion) was someone I started shooting with. We would just shoot for fun around our little city of San Pedro. After several years of practice, I began to notice that I could make a living doing something I love. As I grew older, I decided that’s what ill do.
One person who has supported me and helped me get better and better since day one is my high school teacher, Mr. Mizzy (Erick Miseroy). Mizzy has always pushed me to better myself and improve on my set of skills. Not only do I have his support, I know if I ever need anything from simple advice to sometimes borrowing gear/equipment I don’t have, He’s always there for me, and that’s something I couldn’t put a price on.
Years went on, where I just toggled with the idea to launch my business. I would hesitate to pull the trigger as I was scared to fail. I kept shooting but still just as a hobby. It was a struggle that stayed with me as I felt I wasn’t good enough.
Fast forward to today, I’m finally doing it. I started my business. Even though it’s still a start-up and I’m growing each and every day. I’m grateful for everyone’s support who has been there. From my family and friends to my fiancé(Priscilla Perez) who also helps push me day in and day out to keep striving for success and to not give up. Behind every strong, successful man there’s a strong successful woman. She’s been nothing but supportive and positive throughout this whole journey.
And to my new source of motivation, my daughter. She’s the reason why I wake up every morning ready to take on the challenges the day has to offer. I’ve found a new source of motivation and push to keep striving for greatness.
Who would have thought that from 2015 to now id be here pushing and grinding day in and day out doing something I love. I’m blessed and it’s all because of God, my family and friends, and also I want to give my self props. Because I didn’t give up and I’m still here, showing up and putting in work.
It started as a hobby and turned into my lifestyle. I couldn’t be any more grateful on where I am today. Even though I’m not where I want to be, I know I’m one step closer.
Has it been a smooth road?
As all roads are, there are lots of bumps. From not having the money to support my own business or to cover bills at times. To not having the confidence to jump and become a freelance photographer. It takes courage to take the leap, to start your own business, and I salute everyone who has pushed themselves to support and provide for their families. From feelings of failure to feelings of not being good enough its something that everyone probably goes through as they make the jump into entrepreneurship.
You have to find the right source of motivation, for me it was my daughter. I knew I couldn’t fail her, I want to make her proud. I want her to be able to look back and see that here papa did it. and that motivates me day by day.
So, as you know, we’re impressed with ShuttrCreationz – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of and what sets you apart from others.
I’m a lifestyle photographer. From engagements and weddings to maternity sessions and family portraits.
I am most proud in the consistency I’m able to have when it comes to booking clients. I book about 10-15 clients a month since August. Which is something I’m extremely proud of.
What I feel sets me apart from others is the connections I make with my clients. I try to make them feel as comfortable as possible. I want them to trust me and feel confident in their sessions no matter the circumstances.
Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
The best thing I like about our city is the diversity. I feel my clients are all different and unique and I love that because it makes every session different.
What I like least about our city is the traffic, where ever you’re planning on going always add 30 minutes to your trip just to get there on time.
