Meet Carley Ansell and Lindsay Nakayama of Round Town Events

Today we’d like to introduce you to Carley Ansell and Lindsay Nakayama.

Carley and Lindsay, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
It all started with a friendship at the age of 6. As little girls, we dreamed of being roommates and owning a business together when we grew up. We always loved planning birthdays, family gatherings, really anything and everything. Looking back it seems like things happened organically. We started with small events- bridal showers, baby showers, and grand opening parties. In 2015, we planned Carley’s wedding from start to finish and perfected every detail, down to how many times ribbon would be wrapped around the invitation. This is when we realized we needed to take the jump into planning weddings…and the rest is history! We’ve been fortunate to plan weddings for the loveliest couples in some of the best venues in Southern California. We absolutely love what we do.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Starting a business from the ground up is never easy, plain and simple. But event planning is just innately part of who we are and it was clear this was our calling. Once we decided to go for it and pursue our dream, we asked ourselves, what now? Trying to balance our full-time jobs while we built a business took a lot of patience, commitment and organization. One of our biggest hurdles was creating our website. We didn’t want to throw in the towel and hand over our ideas to someone else, so we rolled up our sleeves and did it ourselves. It was important to us that we understood the ins and outs of our site so we could change and add to it as we needed to. Having little to no experience in web development, we taught ourselves about widgets, how to do to simple coding, and basically geeked out on all things web design. It was a labor of love, to say the least and after many late nights and hitting the refresh button over a thousand times, we did it!

Round Town Events – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
Round Town Events is a Southern California based Event and Design planning company. We specialize in partying, does it get any better than that?! We plan events of all kinds from weddings to holiday parties. One of our proudest moments was re-planning a full wedding, in a completely different city with only 5 weeks before the big day. This challenged us in every way possible and in the end, it was even better than their original plan. They were over the moon and we’ll never forget it.

Where do you see your industry going over the next 5-10 years? Any big shifts, changes, trends, etc?
Within our industry, there are lots of different vendors. Experts from all over the map that bringing their craft to the table. We image like-minded vendors will start to form full-service wedding companies. Offering event planning, entertainment, florals, videographer, etc. all under one roof. A one-stop shop to simplify the search for anyone throwing a bash or planning their wedding.
