Meet Carina Chaz of DedCool

Today we’d like to introduce you to Carina Chaz.

Carina, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
In 1987, my parent’s introduced their company LaNatura, making them one of the first green beauty pioneers. Being an only child and growing up in an entrepreneurial home, I was always encouraged to carry out the family business and hold their iconic legacy. As a young one, the LaNatura laboratory became my playground and the more I surrounded myself with lotions and potions, the more I wanted to take part in their company.

At age 7, I became the youngest (unofficial) creative director of LaNatura after I convinced my family to come out with a more youthful approach to their famous lip balms. I persuaded them to introduce fun fruity flavors like watermelon, pineapple and green apple. The collected expanded from 3 to 25 SKUs making them still one of the best selling products in their company. With the success of my creation, I cultivated a niche passion for beauty and wellness which later translated into my love of fragrance. At 16, I created my first brand, CarinaChaz, under the LaNatura umbrella as a fun project by designing the fragrances on packaging and branding.

Maturing into a young adult, I found myself drawn to more masculine scents and cultivated a range of scent profiles which later led me wanting to create a new category of fragrance. In 2016, I created DedCool as an extension of my passion for cologne, and green beauty. As fragrance is an essential part of one’s identity, I believed in only creating scents that were composed of the highest quality + natural ingredients. I wanted to disrupt the world of fragrance by creating a line that is Uni-Sex, Vegan, Cruelty-free, non-toxic scents with a naturally chic edge. DedCool is making its mark in the beauty world.

By creating an opportunity for people to share scents with their partners along with being consciously aware of ingredients and how they come into play with health and sustainability.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
I consider myself to be very lucky! When the DedCool brand launched, people couldn’t be more on board. At that point in time, I pretty much handled everything on my own. The moment I became successful became the moment I understood peoples true colors. One of the biggest (most recent) struggles I’ve dealt with is managing people. As a young business owner, people don’t always take me as seriously as they should.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with DedCool – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
The DedCool line as an extension of my passion for cologne, masculine scents, and green beauty. So, what’s next? Any big plans?
We are introducing our newest DedCool collection SERIES // 2, Inspired by the idea of free love and our genderless approach to beauty. Our newest scents are elevated with a modern 70’s chic dream. All five scents are composed by myself to share with others & continue to expand our new category of fragrance
