Today we’d like to introduce you to Caralynn Dipmore.
Caralynn, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I started my business back in 2018 while I was still working my regular 9-5 at Massage Envy. I always knew I was meant to be my own boss, but I didn’t have the courage to branch off and go full-time with my business at the time. In March 2020, when the pandemic hit, I was laid off from my job and the building where I performed my business at had been closed down as well. As everyone else during this period, I was nervous about what was going to happen next in the world, but I knew I had dreams to chase, and I’ve never been one to give up very easily. I decided to use my savings to help fund rebranding my business and create a mobile spa on wheels providing in home skincare services all over LA and Orange County. Since everyone was in the house, I figured, “why not bring the spa to them and give out some sort of peace of mind?”. It immediately took off and was a rave hit amongst my peers and blessings just began to fall onto my lap where I eventually ended up at Plush Studios Beauty Bar in Carson, CA, which has allowed clients to have the opportunity to either come to me, or I can come to them.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
To say owning a business is an easy task would be far from the truth. Some days and weeks are going to be really well and you’ll find yourself on a major high, and then you’ll have days where business will feel like it’s on a major low. You have to remind yourself to be patient and try not to get discouraged because it’s not easy. I have to remind myself what was the purpose of me getting started and that helps keep me going and staying on my toes.

One thing about me that I’d say that separates me from others in my industry would be my passion for skincare and the attention to detail I pay to it. I have a stigma I go by saying, “Treat your client’s skin the same way you’d treat yours.” That pretty much means whatever products I use on my clients, I’ve either tested it or used it on myself already to make sure clients are in good hands along with the way I make sure my clients emotional needs are met with. I’m a great business owner and make sure my clients are well taken care of, proper communication plays a huge factor as well, and just making my clients feel safe with my skills to help get them and their skin where they’d love for it to be.
Do you have any advice for those looking to network or find a mentor?
Well, for me personally, when I first started my business, I never took the idea of having a mentor to heart and I pretty much was just “winging it” in the beginning. However, over time I began realizing that that mindset could only get me so far. I needed to see and be around someone that were in the same if not similar field as I am, that also had their business set up to where it motivated me to go harder and could help give me the tools and knowledge I needed to do and be better in my field. For anyone out there looking for mentorship, I would say don’t be afraid to reach out to someone who inspires you and ask if they wouldn’t mind offering you some guidance because at some point, they’ve been where you’ve been and probably wouldn’t mind lending you a hand and offer some assistance.
