Today we’d like to introduce you to The Caracals, Johnny Cisneros.
Every artist has a unique story. Can you briefly walk us through yours?
I front The Caracals. I started the Caracals a little over a year ago. I was always in bands and thought that in order to play your music, you needed a band to back you. So I attempted to start one by looking through craigslist for members. I would meet up with a ton of great people, however, the vision for what I was trying to do was different to their vision. I must have met up with ten different groups before deciding to do things on my own. The process was a year in the making, and a lot of trial and error. I realized that the time I spent looking for members, I had enough material for an EP. I gave up on the hunt and decided to record every instrument myself. And thus The Caracals were born.
Please tell us about your work.
I make rock music. Music was the only thing I was ever really good at, so I figured I make a career out of it. The Caracals was a labor of love and a testament to the power of grit. Like I mentioned before, I always thought I needed a band to be able to do music, however, after writing the first EP I realized that I could write the music on my own. My main message to others is that you can make things happen on your own with a bit of grit and consistency.
Another important message from The Caracals is that I want to bring the Rock energy back into live shows. I hope that when you attend a Caracal show, you will feel the energy and passion that encapsulates a live rock performance.
What do you think is the biggest challenge facing artists today?
One of the biggest challenges for artist is probably finding balance between making the art and finding a way to financially support yourself. That is why I think it’s important to attend the events your friends put on at a small level to not only help them financially, but to gain more exposure.
How or where can people see your work? How can people support your work?
People can find me on all streaming platforms as well as social media platforms under @TheCaracals. A huge way to support is by attending live events and sharing with others the experience. It helps spread the word, and it introduces and exposes friends to new music that might inspire them.
If you are a Caracal fan and attend one of our shows, come say hello! You can also be part of our movement by using the hashtag ‘Caracaller’.
