Meet Caley and Kelsey McCowan of Caley & Kelsey in North Hollywood

Today we’d like to introduce you to Caley and Kelsey McCowan.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Kelsey McCowan. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
We met 5 years ago when Kelsey was offered a residency as a dancer at Downtown Nightclub ‘The Edison.’ Kelsey pitched the idea of having a modern day Fred Astaire & Ginger Rogers duo and hired Caley for the job.

We now choreograph and teach all around the world. We have choreographed for “The Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon”, “Good Morning America”, “Little Big Shots”, Derek & Julianne Hough’s “Move Love Tour”, and contributed choreography to the Emmy nominated performance of “Kairos” on Dancing With the Stars.

We have also coached Stars such as Derek Hough, Jeremy Piven, and Bette Midler for her Tony award-winning performance in “Hello Dolly.” 5 years later, we are actually getting married this summer!

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
So our goal has always been to put more Tap on TV and in film. Obviously, it’s hard trying to create more work for Tap dancers in Hollywood, but we are definitely making strides.

We’d love to hear more about your business.
We are professional Tap dancers, choreographers, and creative directors. We are known for fusing old Hollywood style choreography with a modern twist. World of Dance has called us “modern Tap revolutionaries.” We are constantly in pursuit of happiness through our work and are always creating and pushing our art. Teaching and giving back to the community is also a huge part of our lives…. any chance we can get to expose others to the art of Tap Dance, we will take!

What were you like growing up?
Kelsey: I was actually extremely shy. It was not until my parents put me into dance classes did I start to come out of my shell. Once I started dance, I was hooked.

Caley: I grew up an odd dude, not the cool guy but I was always confident in what I did. I was really a beach bum but, the day I found tap dancing is the day I found myself.
