Today we’d like to introduce you to Cal “Lito” Magpayo.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
In 1979, when Videography was still in its infancy, I started LM Photography and Videography as a family business. In the early 1900s, we started offering what is now called Same Day Video Edit where we edit the day’s events from the bride’s preparations, the church ceremony as well as parts of the reception with the growing-up pictures of the bride and groom. The completed video production is then immediately shown at the reception on a giant projection screen.
At the same time in 1983, while working for the CBS Television Network, I won a TV Emmy for editing the closing segment of the 1983 NCAA Final Four Championship. Nowadays, it is called “One Shining Moment.”
While doing my Photography and Videography business, I always wanted to offer to guests the option of having their pictures taken and have it printed immediately but the software to make it possible haven’t been invented yet. So, when the Photo Booth software and associated printer became available, it made sense for me to start a Photo Booth business that all our clients loved and enjoy.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It had been a very smooth startup. There were no roadblocks along the way. The Photo Booth system I built is very easy to transport and setup.

First of all, we encourage our clients to look at our gallery of Photo Booth pictures in our website, www.leaderphotoboothrental.com. Our operation is very professional. We offer a green screen option where we create wonderful templates with our client’s choice of backgrounds.
Prints in the 2″X6″ or 4″X6″ formats are available. We work with our clients in customizing the templates for their events. We use professional Canon cameras, studio-quality flash strobes with umbrella, the most modern DNP dye-sublimation printer that prints within 6-8 seconds after the picture is taken and Darkroom Booth software.
As a host, we are very proactive during our client’s event by guiding them with posing and giving them the necessary instructions to produce the most professional product. This is why our clients love our service. You can read positive reviews from our clients in Yelp.
We have a wide assortment of Photo Booth props for every occassion. We have done Weddings, Anniversaries, Birthdays, Bar Mitzvahs, Upsherings, to name a few. At the end of the event, we give our clients all the composite prints that were taken at the event on a flash drive. Or if they prefer, we post them on our site.The unique service that we provide our clients is we give them all the individual photos that were taken at the event. This is something that no one, as far as we know, is doing this special service. We also carry substantial liability insurance that some facilities require.
What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
Seeing the happy faces when guests see the finished Photo Booth prints. When, as in one event, someone said, “We could use this for our Christmas picture, it looks wonderful.”
Of course, I will always be proud for winning an Emmy for the CBS Television Network.
