Today we’d like to introduce you to Bryan Mathers.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Bryan. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
So I pretty much started making music around 14. I’d spend weekends at my aunt’s house and my cousins would have on rap city the basement on BET, or 106 & park. When being home, my mother would be playing salsa music while cleaning or making us dinner. So pretty much music was always around me. The moment I realized how music can cause an impact in peoples lives I knew I had to be part of it.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Much smoother now. I’d say my biggest setback then was my mindset, I had all this ambition but lacked the confidence. which is one reason I experiment with my sound so often I broke the bad habit. There was also a time in which I thought the talent was enough to take me to the next level, but I urge all serious up and coming artists to invest in themselves, at all times. Lastly i’d say one of my biggest struggles was separating the yes men from the people who actually had my best interest in heart, this industry isn’t all sweet people will try to take advantage for the sole purpose of being 1 up on you.
What else should our readers know?
I’m an artist/business man. I work hard to ensure things get done correctly, success is earned. I’d like to say my strongest asset is my ability to create, being able to hold on to a certain part of your youth is golden, Especially when it adds on to your creative ability. What separates me from my competition is I will never quit, no matter what the situation is I am dealing with. I will out work any and everyone I have to, in order to keep my spot. My spot is #1.
What is “success” or “successful” for you?
Success to me is making a difference in everyone’s life, as an artist I want my music to match the feelings of each and every listener so that they can feel connected to me somehow. I’m human, we all have feelings. I feel like music brings people together even emotionally. So when we feel judged by the world, we can use music to escape. If something I say or do can change even one person’s life for the better, then I truly will be successful.
