Meet Bryan La of Clubhouse Collection in SGV (San Gabriel Valley)

Today we’d like to introduce you to Bryan La.

Bryan, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I am an 18 years old photographer, filmmaker, and fashion designer. Growing up, I was the I typical student athlete; however my love for basketball slowly faded away due to some personal reasons. After this, I remember one of my friends hit me up to model for him and I did it just for the fun of it. While I was modeling, I thought to myself how dope it would be if I were to be the person that could capture the moment instead. I’ve always had a low key personality so I would rather be behind the camera in compared to being in the front. This led to me buying an old Canon T6 and shooting with friends whenever we would hang out. We would always stay out late at night just taking pictures and having fun. I would get in lots of trouble with my friends just to take photos. Just fast-forwarding a bit, I ended up moving to Wisconsin.

Due to this move, I struggled with mental illness severely. Photography was able to help me express some of the things I was feeling. Art as a whole was able to help me proceed and express my feelings while being creative. Through photography, I met so many people which I now call friends. This led me to different creative fields such as videography and fashion. I kind of explored these different fields and fell in love with fashion, photography, and the community. This has all led me to where I am today. I now am the founder of CLUBHOUSE COLLECTION which is an art platform and a clothing brand. I now run CLUBHOUSE with four others who I can call my family. Through CLUBHOUSE, I am able to combine all the things I love into one. Family, friends, photography, videography, streetwear, and the community.

Has it been a smooth road?
This journey/road I’ve been on definitely has had its ups and downs. I think the biggest struggle I faced was mental illness. It’s a tough road when you don’t feel motivated. Some of the biggest hurdles I could think of that I faced was not having the will to try in anything I was doing whether it be in school or giving my full effort in whatever creative adventures I take on. This had a lot to do with mental illness but through those years of mental illness, I learned a lot about myself that I would have never learned if it didn’t happen. I grew mentally and spiritually and that’s the greatest thing I could ask for. As for the road now in present day, It’s a nice ride 🙂

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Clubhouse Collection story. Tell us more about the business.
I am a photographer and the founder of CLUBHOUSE COLLECTION which is an art platform and clothing brand. Alongside this, I’m learning to improve my videography. I specialize in street/fashion photography. I enjoy taking candids and portraits of others. I love capturing pictures that resemble nostalgia and really laid back vibes. As for CLUBHOUSE, I am most proud of my team. My team is amazing and has been there unconditionally. We have gone through ups and downs collectively but at the end of the day were all homies doing what we love. I couldn’t be more proud seeing that. CLUBHOUSE is built upon the virtues of community, stories, ideas, hope, and love. We strive to showcase these virtues through art in all forms. Our goal is to build a tight-knit community and to make sure that you’ve understood and represented.

How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
I see the creative industry uniting and creating stunning pieces of art. Over the past couple of years, so many artists have been able to link and create work. I imagine seeing artwork everywhere we go. With social media, more and more artists are on the come up and creating together. It’s going to be amazing to see whether its the fashion industry, photography industry, or videography industry. All kinds of art will be linked together. It will be a marvelous thing to see in the world. It will be as if all different kinds of art are one big masterpiece.
