Meet Bruna Nessif of The Problem With Dating

Today we’d like to introduce you to Bruna Nessif.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I’ve been fascinated with love & human behavior for as long as I can remember. When I began my career as an entertainment journalist, that desire only grew stronger, so I created The Problem With Dating, a multimedia platform that discusses modern romance & dating. That website became my baby project & creative outlet. Over time, I became so inspired & dedicated to it, & I began to see the potential it had with its growing readership, so I quit my corporate job to pursue my own project full-time. I took on a lot of freelancing writing gigs (along with whatever random gigs, like dressing as a flapper for a brokerage event, helped pay the bills), while continuing to build my business. Since then, I’ve been featured on numerous publications, including Cosmo, Huffington Post & Esquire, appeared on panels, spoken at expos, become a dating columnist for Playboy, traveled to Jamaica for a story & most recently, released my first book Let That Shit Go: A Journey to Forgiveness, Healing & Understanding Love. It’s been a wild ride & it’s not ending any time soon.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
It hasn’t been smooth, but I do feel very blessed because it could’ve been a lot harder. Of course there were plenty of anxious nights wondering where I’ll get my next paycheck, or if I’ll find work, or if I was crazy to leave stability for the unknown. But my self-doubt never lasted long, because the moment I’d begin to question myself & my decision, something would happen to confirm I was on the right path.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with The Problem With Dating – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
The Problem With Dating was my first step to sparking vulnerable dialogue about romance, modern dating & self-love. What began as a hobby, for all intents and purposes, snowballed into a much bigger movement to reconnect with our heart & the practice of unconditional love. What I love most about the message I put out is it’s very authentic & transparent. I’m not going to sit here & tell you the five tricks to make someone fall in love with you, because that’s not real. I will, however, help you reconnect with yourself & be honest about what you want & what you might be doing that’s not benefitting you. I take a lot of pride in my work & understand the responsibility that comes with it. That’s why I’m currently in the process of becoming an accredited life coach for high conscious living, specializing in self-love for women. I’m also extremely proud of my book, because it is the most vulnerable piece of work I’ve ever put out, & in doing so, I believe it will help others become vulnerable with themselves & begin to heal.

So, what’s next? Any big plans?
Oh my goodness, I have so many plans, I constantly have to slow myself down. Right now, the book is my priority. I want Let That Shit Go to reach a vast audience, because I believe many people can benefit from this book, so that includes book signings & hopefully a book tour. Other than that, I will be working on building my coaching business, curating workshops for students (because I believe kids should be learning about self-love & emotional intelligence at a young age), writing more books & becoming an authority in the conversation of healthy relationships & loving yourself. My big, lofty goal that makes me feel crazy is opening a school one day. But you never know. It could definitely happen, & I look forward to that.
